Approaching retirement and with no prior music education or experience, I inexplicably decided that I wanted to learn how to play the accordion and to sing. Fast forward, I've been an adult music student at Calderone School of Music, taking voice and accordion instruction for several years now. I certainly and luckily came to the right place.
I had tried a few lessons elsewhere without success and was thinking to just give up. But here, what a difference! The staff are truly patient and understanding. Of course they can play/sing at a professional level. You'd expect that. But they also all know how to teach effectively. That is hard to find, believe me, especially for adults.
These folks inspired me to learn and get confident. Now I have music in my life and the motivation to take it further. What a joyous gift!

Excellent - very profesional - teachers and staff. Owner, Professor Calderone, wants the students young and adult to succeed in music. In 8 years of taken lessons at Calderone, my daughters are always happy to assist to their music lessons.

I have been teaching at this school for over 10 years and I can honestly say that it is of the utmost professional and true music school in the area. It has a comprehensive curriculum which is what sets it apart from other schools. Kathleen Calderone has been running this school for over 40 years and is a strong and tireless woman that demands her teachers be knowledgeable, understanding and professional. I watch the students grow and develop strong minds as they ship off to every top ranked Colleges and Universities around the globe. I write this post because I truly believe in strong MUSIC EDUCATION vs music lessons.

Have been at this school for 3 years and it is far superior to any music school I have ever attended or taught at. Other places call themselves schools but are only centers for entertainment to keep the students coming back and are not really learning correctly. It is extremely well organized thanks to professor Calderone and Scott Johnson. It is the music school that really has the students at heart . The teaching staff is world class and experienced teachers. Don't waste your money anywhere else.

This is an exceptional music school. The staff is top notch and the owner cares more about music than the bottom line.
I can only agree with the other review on the point, they do not take credit cards. I'm assuming they don't due to the ridiculous fees credit card companies charge. I know that over the last 9 years at Calderone my daughter's rate has only increased by about $1.00 per hour, which is nothing.
My first child started almost 9 years ago in their Kindermusik program. The program teaches music fundamentals to kids 4-7 so they develop a proper foundation for a successful music career. She is now 14 and has performed at NJPAC as part of the New Jersey Youth Symphony, performed in Carnegie Hall as part of the Golden Key Festival, she performed at Madison Square Garden and The Kennedy Center with the NJ Youth Chorus and has several other musical accomplishments that we can credit to her music education from Calderone.
My younger daughter is 6 and just finished her Kindermusik program. She is now taking private guitar lessons and is doing incredibly well because of the foundation that she received in Kindermusik. I hold Calderone in very high regard and would recommend them to anyone.
One last thing that I touched upon earlier is the owners commitment to music and the kids. Over the years at this school I have seen minimum increases in the rates even though prices of everything else have gone crazy. Also, my wife and I wanted to start vocal lessons for our older daughter at a young age, Mrs. Calderone basically refused, stating that it was not good for her vocal chords and could do permanent damage. She could have taken our money but simply cares too much about the kids. I have nothing but respect for such a class act. Other schools were willing to teach her with no mention of potential harm just to get the money. I commend Mrs. Calderone for her integrity. I wish nothing but the best for her and her incredible staff.
Just a great school!
