This is and old spot i used to have food delivered in McCully area. Now i live in Aiea. I love the food here egg fu young my favorite ,the Best for Hawaii........
While the experience that I had today leading me to write this review was poor at best, I typically find that my food is delivered quickly, while still hot and is average as taste goes. Today, that was not the case. However, for my rating I would say "ok" if I take into consideration my overall experience with this restaurant since I began ordering from them 2 years ago. That said, my experience today is representative of about 20-25% of my orders. I have ordered from this place about 3 times a month for 2 years, primarily because they deliver and parking in Honolulu is a nightmare. As implied by that statement, I always order delivery. On to the tale. Monday night at 7pm per phone log, I called and placed my delivery order. I ordered wonton soup no meat, no wontons and vegetable chow mein. We had a short conversation over the soup, me explaining I don't eat meat and just want mushrooms, spinach and broth, she offered noodles as well and I accepted. Total: $21-something. 814pm, I finally get my food. Typically it takes my food about 30 minutes to get here, I live less than a mile and a half away. The food is not even warm. The soup's noodles are over-saturated and soggy in the room temp broth and I decide to scoop them out. I dump out the noodles, which fill a cereal bowl, only to find PORK FILLED WONTONS underneath. Seriously? After a 3 minute conversation about how I don't eat meat!? Ugh. I scoop out the wontons and several of them disintegrate into the 1 inch of broth that remains in the bottom of the container - which means I cannot even drink that. Damn, looks like my $10 soup is trash. Disappointed, I go to the chow mein. Also room temp, it is absolutely tasteless and is rather oily. At this point, I call and tell the cashier my order was wrong. She looks up my phone number and starts apologizing immediately. She tells me they were busy and she forgot to tell them about my soup. I ask her to put a note for the soup the next time I call. She tells me no and they will only give me a drink for getting my order wrong. I tell her I would rather they fix my order and bring me the correct food. They refuse. This bears repeating. I tell them my order is wrong, they look it up and admit to getting it wrong, but when I want them to bring me what I actually ordered, they refuse. Leaving me with food that now has to go in the disposal soup or be seasoned by me and recooked chow mein. If this was the first time or if they had been willing to bring me what I actually ordered, it would've been fine. At this point I'm ready to start ordering from a new restaurant. If you are looking for average Chinese food that might be right and is usually quick, order here. Don't expect anything amazing and you won't be disappointed and don't expect the restaurant to do much beyond a superficial apology if when? they get your food wrong.
Really nice service. My order was fresh and super yummy, I got the mini asparagus chicken with side of rice. They have big menu selection. Seating is outside of the shop so if you don't mind eating by the parking lot, no big deal. I'm definitely going back
Poor experience for average chinese foods. Way over priced! No manager was on duty when I called to complain. Delivery person was very rude. Didn't want to come up to my buildings unit and asked me to come down so he didn't have to park. When I asked for my change back he said "what no tip?" I was planning on giving $5 but after that comment, I was like yeah no tip. I'm never eating here again. I highly recommend that no one else subjects themselves to such a horrible experience. It's just a bad experience ready to happen. Poorly runned restaurant. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't pass their next health inspection the way they carry themselves as a business, not being able to provide quality food or quality service. I can see this restaurant on some kind of restaurant makeover show, where they need a professional to come in and save their business before it shuts down.
The food at this restaurant has definitely turned to low-grade over recent years. I have been eating here for many years and have found that the quality of food has steadily decreased over the years. The restaurant's food was top rate in the beginning but after new owners took control the quality of food has bottomed. I suspect poor hygiene at the restaurant as well, as a few days ago I was stricken with the worst case of gastroenteritis of my life 5 hours after consuming chicken and broccoli. Actually ended up needing an IV due to 8 hours of vomiting. Will be the last time i visit California wok.....
The absolute worst Chinese food ever, no flavor and very expensive! Ordered the full size Mongolian beef, didn't come with enough rice and half the dish was water chestnuts, I've never had Mongolian beef with water chestnuts and feel like that was mostly what I paid for, so not worth it, would not suggest this place to anybody
I knew going in to this that the delivery was going to take a while sure enough took an hour.. ordered the wontons and chicken dumplings and both were not what we expected! The dumplings we're just disgusting! The wontons were not regular wontons they were okay but just not the best. We order Shrimp Fried Rice, Chicken fried rice and sesame chicken all of it was so damn salty you didn't even want to eat it I couldn't even put soy sauce on because it just got worse with salt!
Stopped in and ordered General Tzo's chicken. Very bland. Not sweet or spicy at all. My wife got Seasame Chicken and it was equally as bland. To top it all off, as I was half through with my meal I found a long black hair cooked into one of my chicken pieces. What's even worse is that the hair would have probably added flavor to the meal to make it better. Would not recommend at all.
I haven't even gotten the food yet and I'm already disappointed. I asked what the special is while ordering delivery over the phone and they didn't know what I was talking about. It has been over an hour since I put in the order. I'm starting to get hangry! Needless to say I wouldn't recommend calling for delivery if you plan on eating any time soon! This is my first time eating with this establishment and will be my last.
SLOW! Quoted 45 minutes, took an hour and 20 to deliver four blocks. Needless to say, food went into the microwave. Chicken and pea pods slimy, House special beef was good. Overall I will find another Chinese delivery.
