Canon Grill is located in Hillcrest, a neighborhood in Little Rock, AR. This whole area has cute shops, restaurants, and neighborhood events. I was really craving tacos and cheese dip. I have to say the workers are so friendly and the queso is really good. I even loved my oversized taco salad, however, the meat lacks flavor. For the prices, they didn't have anything that catered to a quick and affordable meal like I was hoping. No Al la carte menu with tacos, or rice, or anything of that nature. Their menu consists of burgers, pizzas, fajitas, and salads. The kids menu was good. The atmosphere is dated and it is dark inside. The music was great. Hoping to go back and have a better experience.
If you're in Hillcrest and looking for an expensive place to eat with average food, small portions, and an identity crisis... set the GPS to Cañon Grill. It's billed as either Tex Mex or Mexican, but the menu clearly shows they can't really figure out whether their specialty. The lone benefit of eating here was the ability to park in one spot and get coffee, groceries, and decided on this "Tex-Mex" place because the reviews were decent. Upon walking in I was warmly greeted by the bartender, a server, and the musty smell of a formerly smoking place. The decor is definitely no-frills, remniscent of an old pizza parlor, which is fine... just doesn't evoke either Tex or Mex. My waitress was friendly and prompt with the menu and a water, and the menu is where disappointment began. I looked over the menu over and over to find something appealing, with nothing really jumping out other than the high prices burger and chips $8.99, substitute fries for $2.99!?. I really wanted to just leave, but always feel bad for doing so. Ended up ordering the burritos hoping they'd at least be plentiful... but weren't see pic. On the plus side, they did come out VERY quickly. Finally, don't expect chips and salsa unless you want to fork over an additional $6.
Tasty cheese dip and warm chips, but I feel the prices and service don’t hold up to the expectation. There is a musty smell in the first walk through lobby and they seemed short staffed for a busy time of the day. I had hoped for a new favorite restaurant, but it just doesn’t hold up to such. The pita quality and queso earned this review 3 stars.
We have been coming here for over 5 years. It is always fast and delicious. We always enjoy happy hour on Sunday. The only Mexican restaurant I've ever been to without free chips and salsa. However, their chips are pretty crummy so nbd.
The service was good but the food tasted like things you serve when you don't know how to cook. It lacked depth of flavor and wasn't hot or really even warm. The drink was a knockout but I've had top shelf Grand Marnier margaritas that actually tasted like margaritas, this was overly sweet but was generous with the liquor. Overall, I won't ever eat there again but maybe a good happy hour place? It didn't suck but Taco Bell chalupas tasted better.
Wow!, the food and customer service rocks! A very unique environment. It's a little confined inside but enough room for a group to sit together without getting too cramped. The prices are great for this type of location. My nursing class went after our final day of clinicals and we had the privilege of meeting one of the past AR governors whom the server told is lines to frequent this location! I'll visit CG again
A little pricey, seats aren't that comfortable, however i love the food and the staff are always friendly. I love the chicken nachos and my wife can always find something vegan. Highly recommended.
I didn't like this place at all. A few of us went here for lunch. The first thing we noticed was that it was crowned. This usually is a good sign. That is were the good ended. After seating we saw the menu and the prices. The food was so over priced that we almost left later we would wished we had. We all ordered different things but we all shared the same disappointed look when we received our food. We ate what we could of it, which wasn't much. When the server came back later to collect our plates. He didnt even ask if there was an thing wrong. It was as if he was use to picking up plates that were still full. The only conclusion we could come up with for the crowd was the lack of other options to get lunch. We will not be back.
Canon Grill is one of my favorite lunch places!!! The service is friendly, prompt and thoughtful. I love the Canon Chicken Salad and their cheeseburger and fries are a must. Add in their happy hour drink specials and its a great place for the whole family.
I feel like the chef was described Mexican food once or maybe he googled it... and told to do his/her best from then on. Waitress was kind, weeded, but very nice. Queso was ok, chips were out of the bag tostitos layered in salt and both my and my guests dishes were flavorless. Chicken was dry and "steak" was cubed and likely prepackaged. Asked for a side of salsa and was given a $6 BOWL of cold marinara sauce. Hard pass on this place. Confused on the good reviews as the place was dead.
