We are currently staying in the hotel. Great place. Comfortable beds, very nice staff, and the location is great. Huge con though, the club that I did not know was here is blaring music it's so loud. Its 10 pm. People come to hotels to relax, sleep, or have a litte down time laying in bed. All I hear is a dance club. Bass bass bass. Its awful. Pretty sure our room is above it. Our ac and the cleanliness of the room are great. Its just the club blaring the bass at 10pm. I just want to sleep.
The bar is amazing. All of the bartenders are friendly and great, and they make amazing cocktails! The food is out of this world. Chris there will hook you up! The upper terrace is a great place to hang out. We did not stay at the hotel, but I would definitely stay there next time!Service: 5/5
The room had a strange configuration sink in front of the bed, very small window and the air conditioning was making a very annoying sound when it was on. On the last night we found a cockroach moving through the ceiling, disgusting. Also there was no phone to call reception to let them know about it. We checked out very early as we had a 5am flight and when informed they did offer a new room !… too late in this case. We found out that for the price we paid we could had stayed in a much nicer hotel, but it was too late to cancel. On the positive side the location is good, staff was nice and the bar had good cocktails. In any case, I wouldn't recommend staying here.
Small cozy and centrally located, Selina Catahoula is a wonderful little hidden gem in the Big Easy! The staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, and the showers are big enough to throw a party in! It's a lovely romantic and cozy place to stay... 10 stars would definitely come again! Walkability: Lots of attractions and places to eat within easy walking distance Food & drinks: This place has a restaurant and bar called Odd Birds located attached to the lobby, with a bar and live jazz music nightly
Stayed here for one night and thought of booking another hotel for the second night just for the experience. But we ended up staying, this was by far my favorite place I’ve ever stayed while traveling. It’s so cozy, the staff is amazing, & we had so much fun staying here. Definitely a home away from home.Rooms: 5/5
The place is very cute on the outside looking in. At first we were in a room with no a/c the room felt like we were outside, we then moved rooms. went out for the day and when we came back we laid down to watch a movie and the bugs started to come out! We fell asleep and when we woke up the bugs were in our bed! I have videos and pictures when i showed the front desk he just said it’s termites as if knowing what type of bug it is helps. I wanted a refund and get some of my money back because their prices are too high to say we slept in a bed full of bugs
Our room is directly behind the front desk, which wouldn’t be a problem, at an actual hotel. However, this *hostel* is having an identity crisis. We got in from an event at 145 am and the club directly outside our room was still going strong for another 20 minutes. It’s now 730 am and they’re back at it - at full blast. For who?? If all you want to do is drink, party, and live up to the trashy, toxic-tourist trope of a stay in NOLA, this will be great for you. Otherwise, steer clear and book literally any other hotel in the area for the same or better rate - and better amenities Quick bullet points: • Room is *tiny* with next to no storage • Our room wasn’t even ready when we were assured it would be • there is zero on-site parking. You either have to park on the street outside in the VERY narrow alley, or in the $25-per-day garage behind the hotel
Bait and switch with this place! It seems like despite lots of travelers complaining about the broken AC, the feedback falls on deaf ears. From what we gathered, the entire third floor had little to no AC, including our room. It was muggy and smelled damp. When I mentioned it to the front desk staff he told me the place was fully booked and nothing could be done. Just that he’d leave a note for the maintenance guy. He also acted like he’d never heard of such an issue…lol! The complimentary coffee bar consisted of black coffee or hot water with lime scale floating in it. No milk, creamer or half and half. I asked about the cream/milk situation and was told they “ran out and weren’t sure when they’d get more.” Zero effort, zero concern. Totally didn’t care. What I don’t appreciate is being treated like I’m bothering someone just for asking a simple question. As we were checking out we overheard another guest discussing her lack of AC and staff just brushed her off like everyone else and gave her the runaround. So they take your money and knowingly put you in rooms without AC and “run out” of supplies.
I don’t even know where to begin with my dissatisfaction. I booked the room based off the photo of the deluxe room online. It was spacious with lots of light and even had a couch. What I got was a disappointing dark shoebox with no windows. There was no outlet or charging port by the bed. I had to get up and cross the room to access my phone while charging. Though the AC unit worked fine, it was very loud. There was a crack in the sink that made it feel neglected and shabby. The bathroom was a closet with no deluxe feel. The shower was bizarre and had a board missing in the floor, and the pressure was literally a drip. Had to shower elsewhere. There was no iron for a traveler’s wrinkled clothes. The locks on the doors use old school keys, but in a more outdated corner cutting way and not a cool retro way. The usage of the word deluxe is very much a misnomer. The expectation set by the name of the room, the pics online, and the cost were grossly let down. There was nothing deluxe about it at all. Total bait and switch. I’ve perhaps never felt more ripped off in my life. I mentioned my dissatisfaction with the room and the concierge made no attempt to resolve the issue and just seemed offended. Stay elsewhere!
To be succinct, this is a hostel charging hotel prices. I had such a delightful stay at Selina San Jose in Costa Rica that I urged my partner to book the Suite here for our trip, but after staying here, I am avoiding all Selina locations for future travel. I am generally of the mind to power through anything bad and focus on the good, but that did not pay off here. We arrived a bit early as we did not realize check-in was at 4 pm. The door to reception was locked with a note to call someone to be let in. This should have been the first clue that the experience wouldn't be what we paid for. Once let in, the man at reception let us know there was some trouble with our room and that we would be "upgraded" from the Suite to the 1 Bed Apartment free of charge. Bummer, since our hearts were set on the Suite, but probably not within their control. The apartment we stayed in was just off a dingy stairwell. Not great. The room itself was spacious and felt mostly empty. The walls had some scuff marks. A bowl in the cupboard had a glob of butter on the rim. The microwave had a single, curly hair in it. Nothing terrible, but not great for what they charge. Halfway through our stay, my partner got food poisoning and the bedding was no longer usable. I've never had this happen in a hotel before, so I went to the front desk and explained what happened. Rather than any sympathy or guidance on what to do, he kept saying it was "really bad timing" as they're "fully booked" and linen service didn't come until the next day. He said "I'm not really the guy to deal with this sort of stuff" then asked "what are you looking for me to do here?" He did ultimately give me some trash bags to bag the unusable bedding, which he took when he brought new linens up. One saving grace was, after my partner complained directly on the app, the manager reached out and was extremely kind and helpful. He both offered assistance and followed through on it. Except for him, this would be a one-star review. Also, if you're staying, verify the rooftop bar is actually open. We went to the rooftop shortly after 5 on Friday. It was completely empty, except one guy sitting at the bar smoking. We waited around for 10-15 minutes. A woman who presumably works there came in, walked by us, went behind the bar and chatted with the man, and left. Then we left.
