This Karate business has provided us a wonderful experience for the past 5 years. A family truly dedicated to the growth of children with an emphasis on compassion, integrity and respect.
This is our experience... Our son has no siblings and was very shy, so we sought how to build confidence and eventually, leadership, as these are skills necessary to succeed in today's society. We chose Martial Arts after research and began interviewing businesses. I felt like Karatenv actually had laid expectations for us as well, and we were fortunate to enroll him. Fast forward to now... our friends often comment on how he makes eye contact, engages in conversation, and actively listens when being adressed. He has no problem walking away from trouble and has even given up friendships when a "follower" could have just assimilated and adopted the poor character he has confronted. Each instructor's resumė speaks for itself, as they are also involved to leadership programs for children outside of Karatenv. The Instructor's expectations are fully transparent and I have adopted some of them into my parenting style. I also feel they helped in the development of my son to the confident young man he has become. That said, this isn't for every kid. If your looking for a Black belt in two years, this isn't the place for you; however, if you want to see a smile on your child's face after each session you will. It is called PRIDE and it requires effort and hard work. For us, this started our as a fun place with building blocks of Karate techniques and fundamentals of discipline. Then, transitioned to building a character that carries compassion and respect for others. It's also nice to know that he will be able to defend himself confidently and quickly.

I would like to give this business a -10 if that were possible. There are NO safe guards protecting your children in this place. People - especially parents - who are interested in martial arts and assume that there is any sort of vetting of instructors regarding credentials, licenses, and criminal background checking are fools. I would highly recommend you do your due diligence and stay away from this place and its owners(husband-wife)/instructors or be ready for a nice surprise from them.

My children and I have been students of CD Young's Karate for 4 years now. Our 3 kids started when they were 4 years old in the Mini-Ninja classes, and we have been there ever since. As both a student and a parent of kids at the school, I have a unique perspective. The instructors are excellent with the little ones, even mine - who at 4 years old were not keen on the idea of leaving Mommy's side. They are always encouraging and positive. As the kids have gotten older, they have been held to an increasingly higher standard of expectation and accountability. I have seen my daughters become stronger, and more confident in themselves, and they have developed a greater level of discipline and focus that has benefited them beyond the martial arts as well. The owners have gone out of their way to establish a "family" atmosphere. There are multiple fun events and outings throughout the year that really make you feel part of a community. The free Wi-Fi in the lobby also makes waiting nicer for the parents.
As a student, I can attest to the benefits of the physical workout you get from every class. It is a robust curriculum, which includes self-defense techniques, sparring, ground-fighting (jujitsu), kata, one steps, drills, cardio and conditioning, basic techniques, and weapons. There are also regular tournaments where students can compete in sparring and kata divisions. This is a true school; all students earn their promotions through hard work, and they learn a great deal along the way. I trust them with my children, and could give no higher recommendation. They are the best martial arts school in Henderson, and I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for a martial arts school.
