What a great new restaurant! We enjoyed the brunch here. Delicious, very well thought out food, presented elegantly and beautifully. Chef Gustavo and his team treat guests like old friends. They deeply care about the dishes they serve and it shows. We had an amazing fresh scallop, salmon, market ceviche, shrimp and grits and other awesome dish with lobster, the name of which I can’t neither remember nor pronounce. We’ll be back for dinner!
-- permanently closed -- Outstanding new seafood restaurant. All dishes tasted very fresh. Chef and staff seem to be excited about where the fish comes from and what they are doing with it. Real dedication to the product. Ambiance is rustic chic but with attention to detail. Prices are absolutely okay, and a steal at happy hour. There was not a single dish we didn't enjoy. Highlights for us: Ceviche, shrimp a la plancha, oysters loved those from Canada, and the bluefish taco.
I had the ceviche and it was AWESOME! The charred coriander and smoky chipotle sauce added a little kick, balanced out perfectly with the unique inclusion of the mango and mandarin. The fish was super fresh and the display/presentation was photo worthy. Check out this intimate spot and get ready to have some awesome food and drinks!
Seafood lovers restaurant. Certainly a place where you can find rarely served dishes: blue fish cheeks and cod collar the best parts of the fish. Oysters are another special on the menu. Very carefully picked flavors from east and west costs. The restaurant is a head to tail fish butchery, which is great for sustainability.
Amazing, high quality fish, suuuuper good food best fish/seafood in NY, very talented and personable chef! Fell in love with this place!
Great restaurant! Stumbled upon this when having trouble choosing a restaurant and couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. We ordered almost everything on the menu and were floored with the quality. I love that they use sustainable, local seafood and are very focused on using parts of the fish which normally are thrown away. Every member of the staff was friendly and attentive, and we were treated like family. Great addition to the neighborhood.
I've had every item on the menu and each was handled with the care of a parent watching his child ride away on their bike for the first time without falling. Nothing but love and joy. Staff has an incredible amount of pride in their knowledge, service, and most importantly their food! All items are sourced from sustainable farmers and/or fishermen when an item is redlisted they remove it from the menu and replace it with something equally as delicious. Fine dining quality food in a casual environment at ridiculously affordable prices, check this spot out before it blows!
A special little restaurant that clearly has an amazing way with seafood - especially really fresh East Coast fare. It was a Sunday and the place wasn't busy, but the care in service, warmth and professionalism was all there. The dishes - a dozen East Coast oysters, 6 of one kind and 6 of another apologies I didnt remember the names served with a chipotle salsa and an amazing mignonette. We drank our way through a few glasses of pinot grigio during our gulping of oysters. Then our 4 grilled blue fish tacos were incredibly succulent and perfectly prepared. This place knows how to mix top quality fish with a spanish/Mexican flair for an incredible flavour. A must. Gustavo the owner then brought out the best ceviche I've had north of Costa Rica. The addition of charred coriander took us into a great realm of deliciousness and earthy taste. Lastly we went for a meaty and broiled fish "collar" - a tasty cut of fish found behind the front fins. We had both halibut and blue fish to try and - I really haven't tried this part of a meaty fish before. It was prepared perfectly and we finished every last bit off of the large fish bones and charred fins - which I adore and loved to crunch on. This place is now going to be fave in the LES area - a must go to place. Great warm interior -woody and just right for the raw and yet Spanish take on East Coast seafare.
Was walking by with out of town visitors, & we’d never seen Chamusca & decided to try it. A MOST pleasant surprise! Amazing food! I had the Rhode Island Fried Squid & a Baja Fish Taco. YUM! One friend who’s vegetarian had a delicious Fried Rice Bowl, & the Other had the Wild Head on Shrimp a la Plancha- also terrific. Add great service & friendly ambience, and it’s a real find. Gonna be back soon.
Started with fresh sea scallop that seemed like it could have melted in your tongue. Next I had the savory Boston Mackerel served over toasted rye which was accented with the cayenne lemon aoili. Terrific flavors that complimented each other beautifully. Ended the meal with skate over mash done in a style I’ve never had before. Truly amazing. S
