Since I actually have children attending this school, and am grateful for that fact, I wanted to chime in. This school is wonderful. It is made up of smart, dedicated teachers, a proactive and keenly in tune counseling department, and a principal and vice principals who love children and have great senses of humor. The child is the focus of this school and it is set up so each child can find their own suitable path. Kudos and thank you. I am grateful and proud that my children attend this school.

This place is torture for students. Horrible, even compared to Lafayette. Too serious, and it would be way better if we didn't have to wake up before the sun rose.

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I have actually had students in this school. My second child is there now. It's not perfect, but no school is. The teachers and the administration are top notch. They are committed to teaching the students and preparing them for high school. It's a tough age for the kids, but the school is great dealing with all the "growing pains" the students face.
As for the religion issue, many religions are addressed in 6th grade, Islam is covered more in depth in the 7th grade World Cultures and Geography course, and there are in-depth courses on the Holocaust. At no time are students pressured toward any religion.

Now i went here in like 2003. I don't even know the three current 7th grade social studies staff who teach the world cultures and geography course at "issue" here.
The law firm representing the complaining parents released a press statement:
According to the law firm's press release, seventh graders in this public school are taught: “May God help us all find the true faith, Islam.”
Again, there are three teachers in this world cultures and geography course. Their names are Stephanie Lukasiewicz, Lara Golombuski, and Megan Keown.
Seemingly unaware of what quotation marks mean, the law firm does not indicate which of these three teachers said:
“May God help us all find the true faith, Islam.”
And of course, the objection to even learning about Islam and other religions is absurd. The course is WORLD CULTURES AND GEOGRAPHY.

They do not have memes. Mr. Bontempo is a great teacher. Needs more memes
