Adorable Japanese Restaurant! We had a very satisfying dinner at Chiba-Ken! The Rainbow Roll is the best I ever had. There are a lot of yakitori skewers in the menu: we tried pork belly w/garlic sauce, beef tongue w/green onion and salmon skin skewer. Plum wine was fantastic, and lemon sour had an original presentation! I recommend this place 100%. You will have an amazing dinner here!
Their food tasted very good. First time to try the Flounder Bone Crackers. It is interesting. Apparently there was a typo in their menu, but the best thing is their Happy Hour starts at 9pm to close. Good time to enjoy good food and drinks at night.Food: 4/5
Probably the most authentic sushi experience you're going to get in Waikiki. The chefs look to be very experienced. I was sitting at the sushi bar with a friend and enjoyed watching the chefs make the meals with care and expertise. I asked a couple locals and they both said this place had the best sushi. I also ordered some fried oysters. If you're not sure if you like oysters, try them. They are very good and rather mild in flavor compared to raw oysters.
Great casual sushi in great atmosphere with amazing service. Awesome happy hour with $3 Sapporo and food discounts! Good place for first date. Fresh, delicious and little different! Bento flakes on thick fried sushi added extra flavor but veg heads beware
Best Sushi I have ever had. Sat at the bar and watched the pros at work. The staff was so very nice and the wait was not that long to get in. We got our food very quickly. Really great prices for such great food. Wish they had more specialty drinks.
Simple, beautiful, delicious, Authentic Japanese food! Service here is 5 star ! Food quality here is 5 star! Great place to gather with a small or large group of friends/family for a casual dinner or a celebration. Food here is consistently amazing . You could order 1 of everything on the menu and be very pleased and satisfied with the taste, presentation and quality. Outdoor seating ambiance is cute. Parking is best found on the street metered on Hobron or at the Wailana Parking Garage Parking: Parking is best found on the street metered on Hobron or at the Wailana Parking Garage
One of the two best Happy Hour Japanese restaurants near Waikiki I've found. Service: Very friendly and let you know about the Happy Hour ahead of time. Also consistently checks on your table as well. Taste: Pretty good rolls with fresh tuna and salmon. Instead of mincing and covering tuna in a sauce, they simply add spicy sauce on nori then roll it. I've never seen this style of spicy tuna before but was delicious. You can also taste fat from salmon as well. Price: $9 Happy Hour rolls + $4 beer. Yes. You can drink and eat rolls with $15 in Waikiki here.
& mahalo iā 'oe !! We are so blessed to have good sushi all around beautiful Hawaii. However, this joint is by far a cut above the rest and some of the best sushi I have had in a long time for sure! The freshness, quality, consistency and flavor of everything we had was rad and super yummy. The perfect balance of chewy, crunchy and aromatic tasting. The level of detail was incredible, combo'd with the sweet value for money makes this one of my best experiences and I'm totally stoked to return! Rolls are super fat, stuffed with wholesome fresh ingredients and crazy delicious, Takoyaki and Edamame was perfectly seasoned and not too much overkill. The Shitake Mushroom and Shishito skewers from the grill were also a great addition. This is legit the yummiest Miso Soup I have ever had and tastes like fresh delicious kelp. I have to give a special shout out to the staff who are super nice awesome people and made the dining experience incredible. Extremely talented and professional food and service with efficiency. A quaint, cozy and comfortable laid back vibe in a well decorated and authentic eatery. I love this sushi joint and found myself a new local eh! Support local businesses!
We are here in Oahu Waikiki on this Thursday right before the new year. The family had a hankering for sushi and we were at the four-story Mall. There are so many sushi restaurants here in Waikiki and this one was our second choice after the one that was within walking distance from where we were at the four-story Mall was full and unable to accommodate us for another 45 minutes. It has just the right amount of stars and it's current position with reviews which qualified it for our patronage based on my wife's standards. One of the differences we noticed about the menu selection was that unlike the sushi restaurants near our home in California, they did not appear to have a selection of baked sushi rolls like the dragon king that my family enjoys. As a result, we were in a position to choose a selection rolls that we typically would not, except for my son who gets what he always gets so that didn't change. The employees and servers were very polite and kind, and legit Japanese or at least two of them were. And we also noticed that it seemed that the folks making the sushi rolls were Japanese themselves, again, unlike in California, where many times the sushi makers are something other than Japanese. We ordered the deep fried tofu in broth which I believe is the same as agadashi tofu, and we came in after 9:00 p.m. which gave us access to their late night happy hour which goes from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., their closing time. The tofu was made very well and the broth was very good. If you are not a fan of ginger, I would caution you on this dish as my wife says the ginger flavor across the tofu in the broth was very strong. I had the udon noodle with tempura, and this was standard fare for a bowl of udon. The rolls I sampled from my wife and daughter's plates were also good. My daughter says the fish was good, notably so. However, she did order a roll that turned out to be bigger than she thought it was, or rather she mixed it up and that has nothing to do with the restaurant. The restaurant satisfied our hankering for sushi this night. The atmosphere was medium sized for a sushi restaurant and cozy. The service was excellent, and the price was good. Relative to the idea that eating out in general is expensive. These post covet days and that eating in Waikiki in general is expensive. With that being said, I can recommend this place and I am sure they would satisfy your hankering should you have one for sushi as well.
The best Sushi I’ve had on Island. Great service. I’ve passed by this place many times and finally made a reservation for dinner. Definitely worth it. I loved their Caterpillar roll. Looking forward to going back again!
