Chinatown Optical

I went to Chinatown Optical to get an eye exam since I haven’t done so since pandemic started. I waited 5 minutes and went to the exam room. The Doctor was very thorough explaining each and every step of the process. After the exam, I got to choose the frames. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I chose a couple of frames that I liked and they helped me with my final decision. Very satisfied. I would recommend Chinatown Optical to anyone and everyone needing an eye exam or glasses.

They have a great optometrist. I strongly recommend him. Very helpful and make sure to explain everything to the patients. The office is always clean. Their receptionist staff are always on point and ready to help.

I was so disappointed about the sales staff's knowledge. I ordered my glasses one month ago. I told them what lens, color, anti-reflection, etc., but they gave me a thicker lens and clear lens which I did not ask for. In addition, they are very expensive! Since they changed the sales staff, they are not as good as they were a few years ago. I WILL NOT GO TO CHINATOWN OPTICAL!

Was in Chinatown for lunch with a friend. I needed new glasses so we took a walk around and found this store among many others. We went in and i tried some frames with no intention to buy. I couldn't see the same frames anywhere else so a few days later i decided i would go back and have my eyes tested there and get the glasses i liked. I was unsure because i thought maybe the quality of the lenses or eye exam might not be good. However i picked up my new glasses today and they are FANTASTIC. The prescription is perfect. They took my VSP insurance so i paid $233 for progressive, transitional lenses with antiglare coating including the Ma-Ji designer frames. The staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and polite. The optician did a great job, she looked very young to me but i could tell she knew what she was doing. She listened to my tales of woe about my previous glasses that i’d bought in my own neighborhood. She was professional and friendly. They have a superior selection if frames compared to my go-to Lenscrafters. I will go back in a heartbeat, probably for summer frames next.

Excellent service, competitive pricing, accepts insurance. Provides free adjustments, certain repairs, etc. I live in CA these days but always try to go here for my glasses needs when I visit NY.

Love the new optometrist! Friendly and helpful associates in the store. Pick up was fast and accommodating. Been a customer for a very long time!

Came back the 2nd time here to get my new pair of glasses. The staff Sunny is thorough and professional with helping me selecting a pair of glasses that fits. She was patient and informative even with me asking lots of questions and kept changing my mind. They got a wide selections on frames and brands. Amazing service overall and highly recommend.

This place is fantastic. I recently had my prescription updated and it didn’t come out quite right, so they did the whole thing again for free. They are real perfectionists and do a great job cutting for vintage frames.

If you wish to pay high retail prices, in a loud and cramped store, with aggressive sales people, you’ll love it here. The sales team and manager were very pushy to ‘make that sale.’ I had my eyes examined there. They agreed to waive the cost of the eye exam if I purchased a frame and prescription from them. When I checked the cost of the same frames online to see if they would price match it, they said absolutely not...their attitude was astonishing. Years ago, they had an outstanding manager named, Joey, who was full of personality and made customers feel warm and welcomed. They told me he has since retired. Refuse to go back there, since there’s nothing exceptional about the frames they sell and their customer service is lacking! There are literally other optical places to shop in the downtown area. Chinatown Optical on Mott And Pell Streets is a no go, make it a no show!
