About

Sisters' Place offers a wide variety of homemade "comfort food." Daily lunch and dinner specials as well as home made daily fresh soups!

Story

Sisters’ Place has been a family owned and operated business for more than 30 years. It was founded in April of 1983 by sisters Carole Beyers and Linda Dickson just a few blocks north of Garfield Park.
The two sisters bought an old gas station located at 2310 Shelby Street that year, turning it into a small diner serving home-cooked breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
Among the favorites at Sisters’ Place were the homemade pies, once baked by the mother of the two sisters, Rachel Richter, affectionately known even by the customers as “Mom.” Rachel’s recipes are still used to this day!
In 1985, Carole became the sole proprietor of Sisters’ Place as it continued to grow in popularity. Carole’s son Shawn Bryson came to work at the restaurant in 1990 and by 1991, the business had outgrown it’s humble location. With the monumental help of friend and business partner at the time, Dale Elrod, Carole and Shawn moved the restaurant to it’s current location here on Terrace Avenue. This building was originally the old Miller’s Market, which was burned out in a fire. Dale and Carole gutted the entire structure and rebuilt, tripling the seating capacity of Sisters’ Place.
Carole’s son Rick Bryson was handed the reins of the business in late 1999, as Carole pursued other interests. Rick moved on in 2005 and Carole resumed her role as owner and sole proprietor. She was joined then by her daughter Alicia “Sunshine” Beyers, who remains here to this day as Carole’s assistant manager.
Many of Carole’s employees have been a part of Sisters’ Place for many, many years. Several of her servers have been here more than 15 years, including Diane Blythe, who came to work at Sisters’ in 1992. A few of the kitchen employees have also put in more than 15 years of loyal service.
A simple desire to serve quality, home-cooked food has made Sisters’ Place Restaurant what it is today, a staple of Indy’s south side and a place where our family is always pleased to serve your family.
