This is the best tailor I have ever been to. Took some of my blazers to be tailored, and was impressed with how detail oriented he was. Since then I’ve taken a number of items - including evening gowns and he has always done an amazing job. Definitely not cheap, but worth every penny in my opinion.
Best tailor in DC -- no question. I've been bringing my suits, jackets, and other men's garments to Mr. Kim for nearly a decade. He's an outstanding tailor, a bit old-school, he knows what he's doing. Any fabric, any style, Mr. Kim will make you look good. I've had a number of off-the-rack pieces customized so they look as though they were custom-made. His fees are reasonable, if on the slightly pricier side, but the work is guaranteed and worth it.
Mr. Kim is a real tailor. That means he has expertise and skill, and can, will, and should charge accordingly for that. My new suit, purchased elsewhere and tailored by Mr Kim, fits perfectly. If you want to pay department store pricing for department store tailoring, Mr. Kim is probably not the one for you. But if you want a suit or jacket to fit perfectly and the work to be done on a reasonable or in one case for me, faster timeline, with the work done as-described for the quoted price, then I absolutely recommend him. And remember, if you have a nice suit or jacket, you’ll be wearing it for years. Wouldn’t it be nice and worth the expense to have it fit right? I’ll add that he is perhaps not effusive but was certainly courteous and professional.
Loved my experience with Mr. Kim. Came to him for last minute tux rental and he was able to get me taken care of within an hour and was incredibly kind through the whole process. Thank you!
Mr. Kim is the best tailor in Washington, DC. Excellent service and great care. Always a kind word and his work is impeccable. I have never seen him rude or abrupt. Those who have had that experience had to have come in with their own attitude and attempted to take it out on him. Mr. Kim is the kindest person on the planet. Has been my tailor for many years and he is the best; and I have been to many.
I've been to tailors all over the city, and am now stuck on Mr. Kim. He and his team are quick, efficient and reliable in their work. I've brought Jackets, slacks, even a jumpsuit, and I'm almost always pleased with the work the first time. Two issues: 1. They are a bit disorganized, and still use paper slips for everything. It's pretty imperative that you hold on to your paper slips that they give you, otherwise there really is no record of your sale. 2. It's a bit expensive. I'm used to paying ~$10 for a pant hem, and here it runs $25. The work is always excellent quality, but be forewarned.
Christopher Kim is the BEST in D.C. He does amazing work.Service: Alterations
I've had Mr. Kim tailor my clothes since the mid-eighties. The attention to detail and consistent fine work is why I return to him time and time again. His fine tailoring has elevated the fit of many an inexpensive jacket and suit, or pair of trousers.
Good tailoring at fair prices. I think those complaining of rudeness are too used to fake customer service. My Kim is direct and may come across as abrupt, but part of that may be cultural. This is a tailor and suit shop, if you're looking for pampering perhaps go elsewhere.
Fantastic experience. Was traveling to D.C. and needed some last minute rush work done, and my hotel recommended this place. Christopher Kim himself took care of me -- all of the work done on site, within one day! and the workmanship was exceptional. Highly Recommended.
