Natalie and Ashley are amazing to work with. The food was so good everyone loved it! Ashely was very helpful to work with. Definitely would recommend the west end ballroom!
We had our wedding reception at the West End Ballroom on April 26th 2018 and it was amazing!!!. Working with Natalia was great!! She kept the lines of communication open so that we could have the wedding of our dreams. We used the bottom space as our cocktail hour and the upstairs ballroom as our reception area. The whole building was gorgeous and elegant we could not have asked for a more beautiful space. The included up lighting really set the ambiance and lit up marquee was so unique and charming. Natalia and the West End ballroom were flexible and willing to accommodate our ideas and make this wedding awesome. During the night of the wedding Natalia was present and attentive making sure everything went well. We are so grateful for the awesome wedding and the great experience we had.
Our son got married there. Glamorous place enchanted by the newly weds magic. We gathered thanks to their love. First time in Portland. Now we have a bigger map to explore.
Once we saw the West End Ballroom, we knew we had found our venue! Our wedding was 10/29/2016 and you never know what the weather may be like at the end of October so we loved that everything was inside as well as that the ceremony and reception space was in the same place. The venue has a very classy elegance by itself so it doesn’t need much decoration but it is also neutral enough that you could do whatever theme/decorations you wanted in the space. Our venue coordinator Lauren was wonderful! She answered all my emails completely and in a very timely manner and always had suggestions if I was a little lost for some of our decisions. Everything turned out perfect the day of the wedding and I can’t say thank you enough!! The only downside to the venue is that it is not ADA accessible. Bonus though – we were able to rent out the parking lot across the street the parking lot for the Portland Clinic so that our guests did not have to worry about trying to park downtown Portland on a Saturday night.
Loved the venue especially the 2 separate spaces for ceremony and reception it's a blank slate you can make your own. Lauren and Natalia were great to work with. Our wedding was amazing! 03/03/19
The West End Ballroom is a beautiful, fun and inviting place to host your Wedding. Working with Lauren was awesome because she was so helpful to help us plan out a lot of the details and spacing for our big night. Whats great about this venue is that they already have a lot of the tables and chairs that you will need for your Wedding as well as a photo booth! There are so many little things that really make this place a diamond in the ruff. I couldn't have imagined my wedding anywhere else and really enjoyed working with the West End.
It's hard not to rate this 5 stars because we had our wedding here and it was spectacular. My only complaint is actually with Lauren, the manager. At first she was incredibly helpful and helped us coordinate day of stuff, but then, I heard from a few of my family members that she was short and rude to them while they were setting up for the reception. Also, when you book with them, you have to purchase a certain amount of wine through a local vineyard that they are partnered with. We didn't have a problem with this, even though having to order $550 worth of wine seems excessive... my big bugaboo is that Lauren forgot to bring out our wine. We had purchased some cheap back up wine, just in case ours ran out and we found out later that we had served our guests cheap wine all night when we were forced to purchase 27 bottles of wine when we signed up. We could have returned the cheap wine that wasn't opened and saved a lot of money, especially after spending $550 on wine , just to book the venue. My maid of honor tried to get in touch with Lauren to see if we could be refunded for the unopened wine that she forgot to bring out. Lauren never responded to her email. So now, we have 2 cases of wine that we had intended to share with our family and friends to celebrate our wedding. We loved the venue, it's gorgeous. We had an amazing wedding day, we were just incredibly disappointed that a huge thing was missed that ended up costing us money by not being able to return the wine that we purchased as a back up. Also, the lack of response was unprofessional.
I give this venue 2 stars because there were a lot of problems with communication with the vender Urban Venue PDX for West End Ballroom and the catering company Pearl Catering that you are required to use. We booked this venue last year pre-Covid at the very beginning of the shut down I started emailing both the venue vender and the caterer about getting a refund I was worried that because of the pandemic and the restrictions in social gatherings that we would need to find an alternative plan but they assured me that things would be OK. Obviously no one could’ve predicted where things would be by August but I reached out to them at least three times to get a refund so I could look at a different county but they brushed it off assuring me that everything would be OK. There was a lack of communication so if you’re like me and you send an email and expect to hear back at least within 24 hours definitely MoveOn sometimes I would email them critical questions and wouldn’t hear back for 5 to 7+ days !! Many times I thought about spending the extra $1000 and hire an outside catering company which they require if you DON’T use Pearl Catering because the event coordinator lacked the kind of communication that I needed during my planning. We were the only wedding they had all summer so I expected to show up there on my rehearsal night with a clean ballroom but the place was dirty and disheveled. We asked if we could have a little extra time the rehearsal night so we could get things looking good and considering we were the only people that booked with them this summer you would think that they would take that moment to shine and be gracious to their ONE paid client all summer but they told me they would give me an extra hour for $200! We wanted our DJ and other vendors to be able to have time to set up before the wedding so we paid the $200. Now I know that there’s always going to be one or two things that go wrong the day of the wedding but what happened to me was a catastrophe and why I strongly encourage you to find another vendor. We had the ballroom for 12 hours at 9 AM nobody was there! I called the catering event coordinator who I expected to be there and that’s when she told me that somebody else was supposed to let us in and she couldn’t get hold of him she didn’t know where he was or why he didn’t show up. I was standing outside in the heat my vendors were starting to show up and had to wait outside with their equipment, finally some random man I had never met little around with all of his keys and was finally able to get my self and my bridesmaid in. By this time we were 40 minutes running late my hair and make up ladies started plugging in their irons but the electricity didn’t work my bridesmaid had to call the event coordinator who intern had to call an electrician the whole thing was a disaster. I would say that what saved the day is the staff from Pearl catering the staff there to set up tables, bring in food they were so professional and accommodating they apologized repeatedly and even though they had their own scope of things they needed to do took the time to assist me because as it was we had no event coordinator that day who knows where the guy was that was supposed to show up he never did come but I would say this vendor is on the high end for cost and definitely did not meet my expectations which I don’t think are that high considering I would’ve liked to have showed up on my wedding morning with someone there to let me in and there be electricity and an event coordinator there to handle any other issues that may have come up. I will also stress that the 25 guests which included the bride and groom all commented that the food was delicious the bar tender was super nice and the food service staff were very nice! The event coordinator called me after we finally got into the ballroom that they would refund the $200 that I spent for that extra hour the night before but all in all really didn’t make up for all of the stress in working with this venue.
My husband and I had a beautiful baby shower thrown at the West End Ballroom. Working with venue manager Natalia Barwegen made everything flawless! She is a true expert in what she does. We couldn't have asked for a better event to share with friends and family. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone looking to put on an event to have it at West End! Great venue and fantastic staff to work with!!
The venue is NOT wheelchair accessible. I attended a wedding here last month after traveling from Seattle. and had to be lifted from the sidewalk to the main floor for the ceremony. We had to skip the reception upstairs which was impossible to navigate. No elevator! None of this inaccessibility is noted on West End Ballroom’s website. I called the contact phone number & left a message to return my call. Never heard back...
