The store is pleasant enough. Good beer selection. Good stuff for liqueurs. For the most part, there isn't too much to complain. I used to come here regularly. However, some of the management behavior is rather questionable. During the pandemic, when masks were in short supply, the store started to sell loose KN95 masks and hand sanitizer at ridiculous markups something like $10 a mask, clearly hoping to price gouge and take advantage of a national emergency. Alcohol sales was already at an all time high during the lock down, so one must conclude that the price gouging was done purely out of greed. I cannot in good conscience continue to support this establishment, and will be taking my business elsewhere.
They close later then any other liquor store in cambridge, last call from Monday to Friday 11pm
Lady who works nights there is so rude, I’ll never go back because of her. Her husband is a sweet heart but she should be fired immediately.
Super consistent and fresh packs of awesome beer. The focus on what's new and what's fresh makes this place amazing. Employees want to get to know you and leave a good impression. If I had one criticism it's that their recommendations aren't always the best. One of the true best liquor stores in Boston.
I almost exclusively go to City Liquor for beer. Their selection is amazing albeit very IPA-heavy, and you can't beat their 'make your own six pack' deal, which basically comes out to one free beer whenever you buy 5. I'm not sure for wine and liquor, but if you're a beer enthusiast, I would highly recommend checking out City.
I asked them to buy a certain kind of alcohol and they did
The owner belittled me, and made me feel stupid. He thinks he knows a lot about wine and beer but in reality he is a rude, sarcastic, un-established business owner. He does have great beer and wine selections, but needs to work on business hospitality, which he has proven to know nothing about.
I emailed twice and contacted their customer support regarding an order and received no reply. I called up finally and requested status of the order. Ultimately, it ended up with the request of a refund and order cancellation. The individual I spoke to, mumbled and hung up the phone. I called back and asked for a receipt of the order cancellation and he advised I would receive one shortly. I have received no correspondence or communication from this company.
Fricken fantastic. I came from out of town and wanted to buy some local beer and received a wonderful lesson on all things sour. I came back 3 or 4 times over the weekend and really enjoyed the staff. Great knowledge and selection, I'll stop by when I'm back in town.
The staff are always chilling and talkative if it's not busy. Keen to recommend beers and liquors if you have an idea of what you're looking for. As a big plus, they carry vodkas from Austin. What's not to like?
