Jury duty. I decided to skip the usual motion of raising my hand when asked about past happenings like victim of crime, family in law..... So, when I came from lunch, I was sitting directly behind the defendant. I noticed holes in his pants and where men wear cufflinks, he wore rubberbands. I started to feel sorry for him and I felt he also had mental problems. They chose me for the jury, before swearing in I raised my hand and said I had something to say. The judge looked at me shocked. She asked the party to approach the bench then called me up. I said "your honor, I can't send this man to jail, I think something is wrong with him and I just noticed his appearance, I feel sorry for him. She said are you telling me you can't be fair? Yes I am your honor I am only being honest. I was dismissed Now, had I served, I could have been the reason this man walked free and was guilty as hell only to go commit the crime again. But I am a little confused, isn't that what the court system wants, honesty. Later that evening I attended the Harriet lane annual tribute for parents of deceased children, I am one of those parents. The guest speaker was the parent of a child that passed from leukemia. She spoke of the many roads a parent travels after the loss, denial, bargaining, acceptance, etc. She really caught my attention when she said she was chosen for j duty one day and how glad she was that they didn't pick her. She said she was angry that day because of what she was going though, she knew she couldn't be fair if chosen. When I got home that evening I thanked the Lord for sending that message to me. I was chosen, but knew I couldn't give this man a fair trial and needed to let the judge know this. After being told my actions were disrupted I have come to the conclusion that, the court system can care less about honesty, it's sad, but true.

These people just want a conviction of some kind. Don't care for jury trial though they have to lawfully offer it to you. People who DO belong in jail even get out sometimes.
