Story

Mr. William D. Clater, Sr. founded Clater Jewelers in 1949. In 1997, after working for Mr. Clater for 24 years, Sallie Clater Baer and Megan Campbell Martin purchased Clater Jewelers.
Clater Jewelers has been a member of Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) since 1974. As Louisville’s only Master IJO Jeweler, this offers us extensive buying opportunities. We import diamonds directly from Belgium and travel there to find the most beautiful diamonds for customer’s special requests and for inventory.
Clater Jewelers has served generations as their trusted jeweler for brilliant diamonds, beautiful fine jewelry, and custom made styles and expert jewelry repairs. Our mission has always been a tradition of trust, high ethical standards, knowledge of our jewelry products and services, fair pricing and value to our customers.
Our staff includes a GIA Graduate Gemologist, GIA Diamond Graduates and two bench jewelers.
