Incredibly rude woman running the store. After sending an email to make an appointment as the website instructed but not receiving a response, I called ahead to make an appointment and the woman immediately shut me down. She told me they don't have the volume to take more clothes and if I wasn't dropping off designer clothes to not bother. I started to explain that I have at least one Coach bag I'm looking to sell and started to describe some of my other clothes but she cut me off and in a patronizing tone said, "no, sorry - I don't think we're the right place for you." Such a loss, I'm moving to the neighborhood and would have loved to routinely consign and possibly buy from here, but I couldn't get past the condescending, rude, and judgmental woman on the phone. Grateful I didn't waste my time walking into the store if this is the treatment I would've received.
AVOID. It’s too bad I am not able to give zero stars. The woman on the phone was so incredibly rude, patronizing, and condescending. She was short with me and cut me off when I tried to speak. My items could have been of use to her business, but I’ll take them to another consignment shop in DC. I’d strongly avoid this place and take your business elsewhere — plenty of better thrift/consignment shops in the DC area.
Went in for the first time and left with three amazing dresses. Shopping as a person bordering plus and straight sizes can be tricky at best when shopping at stores that have regular stock, let alone consignment but I popped in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful as you browse. The shop is adorable and has a great range of styles and sizes. The jewelry counter was especially fantastic and I can't wait to stop by again!
This place is a gem! I stop by whenever I can to see what they have. They carry great brands -- everything from J.Crew to St. John! I got a classic red Burberry dress from here for just $80! Store is clean and employees are just lovely!
What amazing and Knowledgeable staff, thank you for making my shopping experience with you so FABULOUS, great selections & prices!
Love, love, love the range of items and the personal styling help I receive every time I visit Clothes Encounters. As both a customer and a consigner, I'm so happy buying and selling there. I just splurged on a gorgeous fox coat and I couldn't be more pleased with the shopping experience, the coat and the price!
Rather lovely experience. I happened to have some time on me and walked inside simply to browse. I've been to many second hand clothing stores but there's a warmth and hospitality in this place as soon as you're greeted at the door. Customer service is 10/10. Friendly conversations all around, so many regulars, and if you're new like me they leave you feeling like you need to come back asap. With regards to the actual store, they are the most organized, I had no problem finding my size. Everything was so clean and the prices were so reasonable. I left with 4 pieces from Ann Taylor and J.Crew for the price of one T-shirt at either of those stores. But they also had a variet of styles to fit all kinds of preferences. I didn't intent to buy anything, but the selection, the kindness, and the overall experience gave me alot more than the pieces I left with. I don't even write reviews but I knew I had to for this place and the lovely ladies who own/work there.
Favorite second hand store in the district! I have found items at all price points that are in exceptional condition. There's a broad enough range to appeal to all tastes, and these ladies really treat customers like family. Stop in if you're a vintage fiend!
A wonderful store staffed by lovely people. There is always something fantastic to find in this consignment shop. I love their jewelry selection and it is my go to spot for finding gifts for my wife. Everyone at the counter is so helpful and they really take the time to help find the perfect item you are looking for.
such a cute store, the woman there was so friendly but it’s expensive
