CMPD Animal Care and Control

Had a great experience adopting a dog from CMPD Animal Care & Control. The staff was great. It was very helpful to hear all of the info they had on the dog we were choosing. Also, we loved the ability to bring a dog home for a Staycation to make sure she would fit into our home while it takes time to adjust, the staycation was better than just picking from spending a few minutes at the facility.

So I have adopted 3 dogs from here. The German shepherd the little one with the shirt and the smaller black-and-white. All lovely beautiful dogs I love this place they're willing to work with you they really do care about the animals. Please adopt.

They have options to do “staycations” and “daycations” where you can take the dog for a day or up to 5 days to see if the pet would be a good fit and to learn more about the pet outside of the kennel! We did a daycation with Gary, unfortunately he wasn’t the right fit for us but I loved our time with him! The workers were very helpful and informative. The shelter seemed very clean and the workers seemed to love interacting with the animals and treated them as their own from what we were able to see. Highly recommend.

I surrendered my cat here only because I was going through some things and he needed a safe shelter until I could figure things out. I remember I bought him there August 16. August 22 I came back to come get him, I figured out something for him where he can stay with me. I’m waiting on line happy I couldn’t wait to get my baby back. I get to the front desk and lady told me they put him to rest on August 17. I’m shocked he was only there for a day they didn’t even give him a week to live and killed him afterwards. I’ve been so sad since he really was my best friend and the most sweetest lovable cat ever was my first pet I’ve ever had. He was only scared and frightened to be away from his family he was a stay at home cat he was still a baby only 7 months. I’m thinking this is a safe option for him but they killed him. I think about it everyday because he didn’t deserve that I blame myself everyday and I regret even bringing him here. If I’d known that would be the outcome I would’ve never brought my baby here I’m still hurt by this my baby deserved so much better.

Huge Thank you to “Petsmart Bless Your Heart” pet clinic & Charlotte Meck Animal Control Department! Took our 2 yr old Blue Heeler for Rabies, Heartworm, Microchipping, and License. I had a great experience here. Staff was very helpful. We adopted our fourth dog from here and we couldn’t be happier. I love that they offer a staycation and daycation option. Highly recommend looking for your next pup here!

I took my cat to the rabies vaccine/microchip clinic today. They did a fantastic job and installed the chip quickly and without upsetting the kitty! The staff was very friendly and even offered us umbrellas in line since we were waiting outside in the rain. The staff was also educating people in line about other services they offer there such as their spay/neuter clinic. I think this a fantastic place and I'm glad they offer such vital services to the public. I took off one star because it is like Social Services, you cannot get anyone in the phone but once you get in person help at the facility they are extremely helpful and friendly. I wish our state would contribute more money to important public services like these.

We called them because we had just witnessed a dog get run over by 3 cars. The dog was alive for a few minutes and we comforted him as best we could. They took forever to arrive. My husband had to stand in the lane where the dog was in order for him to not get hit again while they came. When the officer finally arrived, she genuinely seemed like she couldn’t care less about the dog or situation. She moved the dog like it was a piece of trash onto the sidewalk and took his collar off. She said she would contact the owners and assured me they would take care of the body. I returned a couple hours later to find him still lying there dead and the care and control officer was gone. Not only did she lie and not take care of his body, but she treated the situation with no empathy or care whatsoever. Very disappointing and disheartening. If you don’t care to do your job well or about animals, don’t go into this field.

Amazing! I was able to adopt my toy poodle and a very friendly chihuahua from this shelter. Also, they offer free vaccines and microchip every other Saturday. Always friendly and fast moving staff is always up to the task.
