The complex used to be very clean, quiet, and diversified. It has changed significantly over the last few years. We are wondering if it is due to the light rail opening in the area or if the new residents are just not being vetted/screened. There have been several car break-ins, gunshots heard in the complex, and loud music from resident vehicles at night. The car wash/vacuum does not work properly. In some of the buildings, tenants are dropping and leaving trash and loitering in the breezeways; in some buildings, the patios are used as storage units. On several occasions we have noticed some of the tenants with dogs are not cleaning up after their pets and not using the dog park. Meanwhile, the rents are increasing significantly! On a positive note, the current leasing office personnel and maintenance staff is 2nd to none and very professional!
DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!! We lived here for a year and after 6 months started looking for new places to live. We found mold in our bedroom closet from a structure issue we DID NOT cause. We had at least $300 in damage in personal items. Not only it took them 1 month to complete the whole project, let alone they forgot to install the new carpet so we had to remind them. They only compensated us $100 for the damages and that was only after going back and forth with them for a week. The mold showed its self again in the HVAC unit not even 4 month later. We would have re newed our lease for another year but I am so happy we didnt. We have an ESA and they denied us not once but twice. They say they have security drive around but they just stay by the front office all night and do not drive around. If you love to get your things stolen from your car this is the place for you. If you love to get your home broken into, this is also the place for you. Save your time and money it is NOT worth it
Never even applied. Toured a 2BR and it smelled horrible, looked unsanitary and lived in and the tour guide just stood there with minimal info on the place. Also, if you cannot self qualify, your only other option is to have a guarantor that makes SIX TIMES the asking rent. I laugh at anyone who falls for this rug-pull. Get a grip MAA.
NEVER LIVE HERE! Although the location is nice, the price is not worth the hassle. There are only 30 visitor spots along the whole property and they are always taken up. Your car WILL get booted if you park at the leasing office. Their parking rules and enforcement make no sense. Visitors are expected to park off site as the company refuses to add more visitor parking. Company claims that in order to prioritize resident parking there is no capacity for more visitor parking. However, the company will not boot cars that have been stationary in visitor spots for an extended amount of time. There are plenty of resident spots but NEVER visitor spots. So that being said, if you want to be able to have family and friends visit your residence without getting a $160 fine, find somewhere other than MAA City Grand.
MAA City Grand has been great! The whole process starting from the application to the move in date has been very smooth. Faculty is very helpful and kind.
DO NOT LIVE HERE!! If you ever intend to have friends and family over to visit, look into finding a new apartment complex. Resident parking is plentiful but you will never find visitor parking during reasonable hours of the day. When trying to find solutions with the leasing office they essentially told us to F off and that the parking rules were never going to change. They claimed that the capacity for visitor spots and resident spots were limited and therefore could not add more visitor parking. Yet, did not explain how they intended to enforce residents who continuously park in visitor spots or visitors who park in visitor spots for a prolonged amount of time. The leasing office clearly did not want to find a solution rather than carry on with the current parking system because it provides the least inconvenience for them. I repeat, NEVER LIVE HERE!
I have been living in this community for 1 year and last 2 months have been a nightmare. I have complained about loud music multiple times but I never saw an email or notice from the leasing office. Even right now as I write this review the loud music is still on and it’s giving me headache after long day at work. Somebody in my building plays such loud music that it’s impossible to sit and talk in my living room plus my entire apartment vibrates because of the bass. Leasing office does not care and no action have been taken. I’m moving out by the end of this month and I would never recommend this community to anybody.
Parking is horrible for visitors and your car will get broken into on any given night ! I’ve had leaks ever since I’ve lived there and there is definitely a bug problem, stay away from city grand.
The women at the front desk Julia is clearly inexperienced and lacks the ability to admit when she’s wrong. She rushed my move in date and the apartment nor the appliances where what she showed in the viewing. The Lead maintenance guy doesn’t know how to open a toolbox box, by the looks of thing’s he cant use measuring tape either. There are multiple things still wrong around here, the dumpster has been broke since the day I moved in, they won’t give the number to corporate so people can report the horrible job they’ve been doing. I’m looking for a new place already and it been only 3 months.
Staff is friendly in person however they never respond to emails unless it's directly related to getting more money out of you. There have been numerous times where I've had to send 3-4 emails before finally getting a response, and the response is usually only after I've now gone in person to bring up the fact that I've left multiple emails. Most of these emails I've sent are in regards to incorrect charges to my account. I've lived here for 4 years and I've had about 4 or 5 times where incorrect charges where placed. It's always a headache to get it resolved. There are always 18 wheelers parked on one of the exits which obstructs views when driving and is overall unpleasant. The location is the main reason this place gets a 1 star. There seems to be a car break-in every other week. Gunshots are reported on the premise once a month or so. The area has gone downhill fast. I will say other MAA locations are good, I moved to a sister location and this one is much nicer, with friendlier and more responsive staff and none of the safety issues outlined. This location at university center just isn't managed well.
