For as long as I can recall, this spectacular layout has been open to visitors during weekends in November. I recently visited for the first time in many years, and it was just as good as I remembered. They have limited, timed tickets, helping to keep the crowds manageable, and as the pandemic hopefully winds down, allowing a bit of space between attendees. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance - I do not think they sell walk in admissions. As for the trains, they have an amazing number of things to show off to their target audience children and middle aged to older men. As you enter, a long gone version of Portland greets you, with the Broadway Bridge including the Lovejoy Columns and a hand-built Union Station. The layout quickly changes to a glorious scaled down gorge, with passenger, freight, and logging rolling stock. They have done a wonderful job with interesting things to look at alongside the visitors' hallway, and the multiple levels of trains ascending into the distance are endlessly fascinating.
Amazing work. Fun experience for adults and kids. Take your time, lean in to the craft, wonderment, etc. that is model railroading. Friendly informative passionate staff. Well worth it!
Such friendly staff welcomed us into a world I never seen before. There were so many trains and awesome site to witness.
That was AMAZING. Fun and knowledgeable people. Great gift shop with used model trains and memorabilia.
My plans were to bring my grand boys with me but they were sick today.. took a bunch of pictures and videos.. didn't want them to miss out
It's awesome. Fun for all ages. Really worth going. They take donations for any train stuff a person might want to get rid of.
A great place to see. We drove 4 hours each way just to see it. This was our first time here. Was not disappointed. Next time we'll sign up for a "behind the scenes" tour.
Amazing details everywhere you look. Great outing for the young and old alike. Very attentive volunteers with a ton of information. Can't wait to return next year!
Fun place to visit. Only open 4 weekends a year, usually in November. HUGE layout of model trains representing the Columbia Gorge. Don't forget to look for their hidden Easter eggs!
They have the most impressive and fun model train exhibit anywhere. And really nice friendly and engaging folks.
