Super friendly and tasty coffee. Pastries were decent not patisserie amazing or anything but good. Lots of dog owners walking in, great atmosphere. If you're looking for quality espresso in DC, go here! I'm Portland local, own my own commercial espresso machine and grinder. Walked by Compass by chance and stopped in. Glad I did.
The person making lattes was on it! She whipped them put so fast. They are very efficient and tastes good. There are no sugar free flavors though if that is something you need.Food: 5/5
The knowledge of the barista in charge was quite bad. Fact they do not serve pour-over coffee yet they charge close to 3 bucks for a drip version that is supposed to be lite roast but comes off as a Starbucks blonde roast profile. Add to this the coffee is piping hot. Shouldn’t be for a third wave coffee shop as such. Needless to say, may be good but personally wasn’t a fan.
Very nice coffee shop and the people working here seem nice as well! I had the almond butter latte, which I think is a seasonal flavor and it was pretty good…
Excellent coffee and breakfast bites. Ultra fast service. Good latte art. A generally quite nice place to work between meetings.
We just wanted coffee, and Compass Coffee really provided. Something I noticed right away is their menu stating that plant milks are always free. They have oat and almond available. They also had a vegan muffin. The coffee is a little bit on the expensive side, but nothing unheard of. When I paid for the coffee, I wasn't asked for a tip. I think? this might be why the coffee is a bit more expensive. If so, great; I prefer that! Anyways, we were happy with our coffee and muffin. The service was quick and friendly. Seating was good. The music wasn't too loud. Free WiFi is available. If I was being picky, then I would ask for more vegan food options. But I was happy with the option offered. We would definitely come again.
Great coffee amazing atmosphere. Good place too go. If noise bothers you it's not a good place to work. It doesn't bother me so I love it!!! I have tried flat white and coffee cake there were great. The coffee is not very acidic and the roasts seem perfect!
Got the matcha tea latte, they put vanilla in on default so if you like it more bitter like I do make sure to ask for it without. Very good, hot but not too hot when it hits the bar, and the caps and everything are by the front door, so don't go wandering around the bar like I did. Barely any powder at the bottom, well done. They don't advertise if they use the *ceremonial* stuff, but it definitely tastes the same!
For major props to the staff and coffee, scroll down…What would make this favorite coffee place go from 4 stars to 5 for me? Make space on the benches for paying customers. It’s so frustrating to want to take a seat outside and find that non-paying customers are taking up the benches and not moving for paying customers. I’ve been working inside at tables before and I’ve seen people walk up with no coffee, not buy anything, and sit in the benches for an hour plus. There have been many times I’d have liked to sit outside but couldn’t because what appeared to be non-paying customers were just hanging out on the benches. So frustrating! Otherwise I LOVE this place. Best coffee in town and friendly, AMAZING staff. They remember names and orders, they work efficiently and hard, and they do it with a great attitude. I don’t know how they manage! They all deserve a big fat raise between the customers here and the crazy people sitting on their benches.
I really loved the location: neat store interior design with ample seats. I had a lavendar-based coffee drink and it was absolutely phenomenal. Also they have plenty of little gift-type merchandise that me and my friends boughtFood: 5/5
