The worsen place to get anything done. Everything it's online and they are getting pay for. They only seat around and go home after 1 pm or just been pay their bills online. Online appointment? How?We can't even find where is the page to make a appointment. You guys should be shame of yourself. The pandemic is over by now, everything is open. Why is the consulate door still closed to the public? What a shame. Ohh am forget .Corruption is a normal think there..// Losers!!
Let me figure out how to make an appointment first then I will be able to write a review. Been on their website multiple times and there is no indication any where of where to schedule an appointment. No email response either
Best experience ever!!! Kudos to the people here!! After seeing the positive reviews online about the Brazilian Consulate in Washington DC, I decided to go there, instead of the one in Chicago which is closer to me. I am SOOOOO glad I did!!! I walked in at 8:27am, and by 8:55am I had my renewed passport, which is good for 10 yrs! If I would have gone to Chicago instead, the website says I would have needed to make 2 trips, first trip to do the paperwork, and then five days later to pick up the passport. But at the Consulate in Washington DC I was in and out within 30 minutes. They have a modern system and tons of staff. Note: the entry to the consulate is on L Street, between 15th and 16th streets. There is a Brazilian flag outside. The website says they open at 8:30am, but when I arrived at 8:27am they were already working and letting people in. I was directed to select the service I needed from a touchscreen tablet-type device, which printed a ticket with a number. I was "P0002", so I am guessing it stands for passport services and the I was 2nd person in the door that day. There were tons of chairs in the waiting room, but I was the only person waiting that Friday morning. Within 1 minute, my number popped up on the monitor and directed me to the window I needed to go to. I came prepared, I followed all of the instructions on the website to a t, so I am sure that helped to make things go faster. The day before going, I completed the application online, scanned and uploaded my previous passport, birth certificate, signature, and passport photo which I got at CVS, and printed the application receipt confirmation to bring with me. I also purchased the money order as instructed from the US post office and filled out the money order just as the example shows on their website. When I met with the clerk, I had my application receipt confirmation, my original documents, passport photo, and the money order must be from the US post office. He took my fingerprints and said he will call me when it's ready, which was about 20 minutes! Also, my trip there was smooth. I flew into Ronald Reagan airport which is 3 minutes from the Consulate, and took Uber there and back.
3 passports and a birth certificate in about 1 hour ... great service super friendly people.
People there are incredible. Patient, helpful, courtesy and knowledge.

Excellent customer service! My appointment was at 11:00 this morning and at 11:06 I left the Consulate with the power of attorney ready to mail to Brazil. Everything run in perfect timing, the person assisting me was professional and most courteous. Congratulations for running such an efficient operation!

I was out in under 25 minutes, hopefully their superiors are recognizing the great employees working there!
July 2022: the BR consulate is still only allowing scheduled appointments, and working with reduced staff. ... While everything else in DC is working, at 100%, no masks mandatory, etc...
Wow. I've been coming to this location for the past few years to get different items done, and I must say that the level of service, competence, knowledge, and pleasantness has shot up to the stars. I am always apprehensive visiting here, never feeling like i have all the documents or requirements needed the website could be more clear sometimes, but the staff here is consistently helpful, flexible, and professional. Thank you for your work, makes me proud walk through those doors. Shout-out to Floriano and Klauss helping with passports.
