Committed to help people to live their happiest and healthiest lives with a solid backing of science, April has 10 years of fitness expertise with award-winning coaches, gurus and she is passionate about wellness, i.e. nutrition, fitness and health, since the tender age of 10. April draws inspiration from friends who have exercised almost daily for decades and today are rewarded with the mobility to do whatever they want, despite being in their 80s!
The proliferation of trendy workouts coinciding with increased exercise-related injury and constantly “new” diet fads that hasn’t decrease the rate of obesity, diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer’s, are the WHYs that fueled April’s desire to inspire change. She believes that a combination of multi-dimensional workout, variability-driven exercises, simple-but-wholesome nutrition and a healthy mental fitness, is what drives real CHANGE, and that the resulting weight loss and increased fitness levels are the by-products from this holistic approach. The urge to spread awareness with this new-old philosophy of the longevity of mind and body is what led April and her partner Didi start Core Theory Fitness, LLC.
She is a certified Personal Trainer and Health Coach with the American Council on Exercise (ACE). From her realization that almost all ‘boxes’, specialty gyms and boutique gyms do not actually cater to the Gen-X and the Boomers in a progressive way (even the injured Millenials!), April decided to become a certified Functional Aging Specialist with a strong belief that we should all age with grace, and without a record of joint replacement surgeries. Understanding the intertwining relationship between health, nutrition and fitness, April works closely with a network of registered dietitians, physical therapist and doctors.
If she isn’t experimenting with newfound workouts using her partner as a ‘guinea’ pig , she enjoys keeping up with scientific and research papers on what is the latest in fitness and nutrition with a cup of green tea. She enjoys jogging with her dogs, yoga, pilates, rock climbing, weightlifting, swimming, cycling, tennis, SCUBA diving, and used to be a Houston-based amateur boxer for five years.
