Courthouse Montessori School

I have 2 nephews that attend Courthouse Montessori School. The staff is polite, courteous, kind, and professional, they love the kids and the kids love them. The school could use some updating but the care, and education that the boys receive more than make up for that. My oldest nephew is excelling in middle school and the youngest is more advanced than most kids his age. I attribute this to their start at this exceptional school.

We have had a great experience here. They offer advantages that no other school offers: 1 child to teacher ratios are much better than the law requires other schools mostly do a bare minimum required by law. For example, in my daughter's class, the ratio is 1:8 whereas the law only requires 1:12. 2 low teacher turnover - again, very important so both a child and a teacher; 3 spacious class rooms some other schools like to cram kids in small quarters for cost efficiency. Add to that great teachers, warm friendly staff, hot meals, and a low price. We highly recommend this school.

My older son at age 3 was doing addition and reading. He enjoyed going to school to see his teachers and learn something new each day. Now he is going into the 5th grade. My other son loves to go to school to see Mrs Toni. She goes out of her way to educate the children in her class. Micah loves Mrs Toni and Mrs Maggie. In September he will be with Ms Cavita and Ms Maya. I am exited to see what is next on this journey. Thank you Courthouse Montessori School for nurturing and teaching my children!

Our daughter has been here since 17 months old and we could not be happier. They stay open when other schools close. Offer more programs than other schools such as Spanish, music and PE. Education is excellent and the kids can read before kindergarden. They even potty train your kids if you get them there early enough. We moved to Chesapeake and checke out several schools. We decided to keep driving out of out way to VA Beach because we love the school so much. They are also very flexible if your child has particular dietary needs.

I recommended parents to not being their children here. Ive seen them treat children their poorly. I pulled my daughter out well before the end of the year. They are highly disorganized. One example being, they had a field trip to the strawberry patch down the street. I went to help. When the children got there, they had to wait 25 mins standing out in the heat to pick strawberrys because the school did not pay the strawberry patch for the field trip. Don't let your children be mistreated at this school.

I loved the school initially, however theres a child that was in my sons class whose mother works there. This child has bitten my child three times, bitten teachers and other students, scratches my son and pushed him down and this is ok. I am absolutely disgusted with them. The are allowing this kid to stay in the school and over looking this and clearly this kids behavior issues. This is a clear violation of their rules, which has a three bite minimum. I have removed my son from the school since they refuse to address these issues and the mother that works there that clearly doesn't know how to raise her child to be respectful and behave

We do not recommend the Courthouse Montessori School, VA Beach. We witnessed a child with food allergy being exposed to all the children in the class, as well as the food products. The teacher in our son's class did not want to be there. Examples of her behavior, include her wearing white pants to the class and us witnessing her demand that children come up one at at time after lunch to wipe their hand to avoid getting her pants dirty. When a 2nd child got up, she sternly told them to sit down. My wife saw our son eating a food item we did not want him to have and asked the teacher "what happened," the teacher yelled at our son, grabbed his face, and forced him to spit out the food. We noticed a teacher reprimanding a 2-yr old boy potty training who urinated on the toilet seat. We heard a teacher tell a 2 yr old, "stop whining" when the child asked for something to drink during lunch time. Overall, the staffed lacked enthusiasm and appeared to not want to be there. It seemed the manner in which the "teachers" used to control the children was by directing them, "i.e. sit down, stand up, do this, do that". We did not think this manner of direction was very Montessori method like.

This is a great school. My son is excited to go every day and loves his teachers. They create a wonderful and caring environment for him to grow and learn. We highly recommend Courthouse Montessori for any parent and child.

I have been a parent at CMS for over 8 years. I can say that I am very pleased with the care and education that my children have and still are receiving. I never would have thought that at the age of 2 my child would know all of her letters and letter sounds, or all of the planets. Thank you to Ms. Tieshia and her team for teaching my child all she knows. I am grateful. When leaving my child in the mornings, I am comfortable with leaving because I know she is well taken care of. CMS is a very welcoming school, all of the staff are very pleasant and are always so happy when children enter their classrooms. My older child never liked to read, but now I can't keep a book out of her hands and for that I thank Ms. W. CMS is a wonderful school. I recommend this school to anyone who needs care for their children. CMS is not just your "daycare" it is a school, the children learn on a day to day basis. Thank you to the teachers and staff at CMS.

If I could give no stars, I would. I do not recommend this school at all. In the 6 months my daughter was here. Her teacher changed 3 times. I personally witness them abuse a child to where I had to call the police. My daughter came home with multiple bruises and they said it was from another child. I personally feel like it was not from a child but an employee. I strongly advise for parents to find another school.
