Cracker Barrel used to be one place you could consistently find eatable food. Not this place! I ordered chicken dumplings with broccoli. The broccoli had mild on it and the corn bread had some substance burnt into it. It was awful. The chicken dumplings were a glob of watery flour. The coffee was barely warm and tasted bitter. The server was nice and did his best, but the food was the worst I’ve been served ever. It is obvious that the kitchen don’t care.
The location is great because there is plenty of parking and you don’t have to walk to another parking lot of another business and walk back over. The wait staff feels a little under staffed. They were kind but seemed rushed and couldn’t spend as much time with our table as they would have liked. The food itself is great as always! The grandmas sampler is perfect, pancakes, eggs, bacon, ham, hashbrowns and biscuits!
CB has always been greet.. Today was not one of those great days. It was an hour wait time before we got a table. 20min before we got someone to get our drink orders and the waitress told us they didn't have pecan pancakes which they clearly did per the website and menu. It took them 2.5hrs and the food was disappointing. I have never been to a CB this bad before. Serve bad and it was so empty so there was no reason for the wait times.... food upsetting. What a waste of a lovely Sunday.
Wonderful breakfast at Cracker Barrel! When I arrived, we were greeted and told they would be clearing a table as soon as one opened up. That morning they were only using the front section of the dinning room. I told the hostess that I reserved a table online and when she saw my name she cheered up and said follow me we felt special. We were able to sit in the next section of the dinning area which was great since no one was sitting by us and felt like we had our own private area. The waitress was fast and very attentive. I ordered a coffee and Mama's pancake breakfast. I added pecans and whipped cream to my pancakes which brought it to an even better level of goodness. It also came with scrabbled eggs and a side of sausages. My son had the same thing but with bacon. My daughter had the Mama's french toast breakfast. The french toast was thick, flavorful, and delicious. My husband ordered the Breakfast Sampler which he said was very good and fulfilling. It came with eggs, bacon, country ham, hash brown casserole, apple dumplings, biscuits and gravy felt like the food never ended. Great family restaurant.
Not as good as I remember it once was. Had to wait to get on the list for 10 minutes. Waited 15 minutes for a table and than 45 minutes for food. I know it's busy and all. But not worth the hassle for a basic breakfast.
I feel like cracker barrel in general gets a real bad rep. Now if your taste in food doesn't align with the "chicken fried" or "smothered in gravy" side of the food universe, then this place is probably not for you. This cracker barrel in particular off shackleford on our many visits has always been clean, the wait staff friendly, and we have never once waited for a table. On this visit, as we do 99% of the time, we ordered breakfast. I built my own homestyle breakfast, be sure to get "the sampling" of breakfast meats because they are all so good. And husband ordered the bacon n egg hash brown casserole, which he annihilated. They had on offer a few specialty summer drinks - one was the "rocket pop mimosa" and WHOA was it sweet!!! As in you've met your sugar quota for the day after one of these. But I will say it was super cute and neat twist on a classic. Husband got the standard OJ mimosa which didn't disappoint either. My only complaint lies with the biscuits and gravy - gravy came out a little cold and the biscuits were a little stale. I feel like both of these items have been better in past visits. Aside from breakfast, this place does chicken fried everything really well. Their chicken and dumplings are good. Their southern style side dishes are also to be recommended. Great place for kids and large groups. Bad place for diets lol.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Took us over 40 minutes to get seated when we were told 25. when we got in there, there were maybe 4 tables full of people the rest were full of dishes! didn't get my food on time and when I did they told me they had no gravy... I got country fried steak which usually comes with gravy, as does many things they serve. they left my food sitting there, when I told them I didn't want it to get cold, for another almost 20 minutes until they said gravy was ready and then wanted me to eat it. I asked them to bring me another plate by this time my mother was done eating her food. No apology no compensation Took us 2 hours just to eat... by far the worst dining experience I've ever had in my life and that's not an exaggeration
I ordered the 2 biscuits and 2 pieces of sugar cured ham with 2 scrambled eggs on the side. The ham was so salty with only one bite. The waitress brought me back only one piece to replace the two. The eggs were good but the biscuits were not done and tasted like cooked floor. They rang up a build your own and added hash brown casserole but still charged me for the sugar ham.... say what. They charged me for the second piece of ham? Luckily, the manager took care of the issue with my food and the extra piece of ham. So I'm giving 4 stars instead of one star. I'm not sure if we will come back to eat here, shop .... most definitely. Eat .... not so much. My friend didn't care for his biscuits either but he hadn't eaten anything past 8 pm and by 10:30, he was hungry so he made himself eat them. The gravy was okay but not enough for 3 biscuits. The coffee he said was really good. My son enjoyed his breakfast but I was surprised how expensive it was for what it came with. Anyways, try it if you want to. Maybe they just need new cooks?
There was a wait when we arrived. It was 20-25 minutes. We were seated after a 40 minute wait. They were busy but they just didn't have the staff to meet the needs of the customers. I don't blame the store at all, but if you're going to eat there, be prepared to wait. The server was new but she did a great job.Food: 3/5
I have never been disappointed in Cracker Barrel, but I am today. Typical wait time, it was actually shorter that what we were told for a Sunday. Got seated, waitress was very nice, placed our order then the wait for our food. We waited, waited and waited. Once it was brought to us, it was cold, my over easy eggs, could have bounced off the walls. During our wait our waitress was MIA for a while. Several people getting waited on, but our really nice girl, just ain’t getting it done.
