Cuckoo's Nest Mexican Food

We went there for dinner on a busy Saturday. Everything took forever, sat in front of our empty bowl of chips for 45 minutes. My kids were super tired by the time the food got to us. Our waitress was nice enough. Food was mediocre at best. My wife's chicken was super dry, my shrimp and scallop tostada didn't have scallops and left a lot to be desired. My 3 year old did like her french fries... Won't be back, unfortunately.

Loved our visit! I accidentally ordered a dinner special at lunch but they were more than happy to accomodate. Friendly staff, laid back but enjoyable atmosphere. Sat next to celebrity wall of signatures. Had lobster quesadillas and fried Mexican cheesecake for dessert. Drinks were tasty too! We will definitely be back!

Went there with friend for dinner and drinks last night. Service was good, nice atmosphere. I only had an app (specifically the potatoe skins) completely inedible.. horrible, 1 bite, and I didn't want to even bother trying for round 2. My friends steak was meh.. not great, but not throw away bad. 3 drinks total, and the tab was 80.00... I would NOT recommend here for anything other than a beer or easy drink. Expensive with bad food.

My favorite Mexican restaurant. Diverse menu with great specials. I’d give 5 stars but I’ve been going to Cuckoos more than 25 years so I remember how big the portions used to be. Prices have risen and portions shrunk. Always excellent if expensive meals.

The Old Saybrook area has more than a fair share of quality Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area, but the Cuckoo's Nest has earned its spot at the head of the pack. With consistent service, high quality and fair prices, this is the spot for regulars and visitors to the area alike.
