Story

CULTURE SHOCK LAS VEGAS INC

We are a troupe of individuals who through the power of music and dance cultivate self-worth, dignity, and respect for all people.

Culture Shock Las Vegas is a non-profit educational, youth-outreach program, and hip-hop dance company. Our intent is to cultivate the hip-hop dance form and teach it with the same dedication and respect commanded by other "classic" dance forms. We believe that by validating the dance created by kids on the street, you are validating those kids as well.

The primary goal of Culture Shock Las Vegas is to offer our youth an alternative to becoming involved with gangs, drugs and other self-destructive activities by promoting a lifestyle based on acceptance, achievement, and self-confidence.

The troupe is comprised of children and young adults who volunteer their time and are offered the opportunity for educational assistance and dance and leadership training. The dancers, with a range of backgrounds and a wealth of talent, come to the company through an audition process.

Developed in 1995, Culture Shock Las Vegas' ideology mirrors the original Culture Shock developed in 1993. Both organizations share the powerful vision to expand the opportunities of those less fortunate than themselves.

The annual Back to School Jam allows Las Vegas students ages 7 - 17 to experience a playful cardio dance workout, and receive professional instruction from some of the world's most elite dance presenters and CSLV dance troupe members. Participants also receive back-to-school supplies and other give-a-ways.

Every year CSLV host its annual song and dance production "Takin It To The Street.” The one-of-a-kind song and dance extravaganza features Culture Shock, Future Shock and Mini Shock members performing a variety of dance medleys and character monologues/skits that focus on today's pop culture. The special performance is enhanced by the participation of troupe members from Culture Shock San Diego, Los Angeles, and Oakland and many more.

As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we rely on community support to put on these programs. Please support our efforts to help the youth of our community.
