Don't get me started! The first month I lived here the plumbing was so bad that brown water started coming thru the bathtub and almost overflowing the toilet, called multiple times and even went to the manager to get it fixed but it wasn't until 3-5 weeks until it was fixed. So I had to go to a truck stop to shower or friends house! Half of the electrical plugs doesn't work and is very sensitive and the garbage disposal didn't work in my apartment as well! LG&E ran about $234 a month for the months of winter and the front door and Windows had major air leaks so cold air rushed it's way in! Don't drink the water or wash dishes, I became very ill after I drank the water there and I reported the apartment to health department. Mold everywhere and couldn't bathe or use the bathroom for 2 months! The stove only had 1 burner that worked the rest didn't and was a fire hazard! I was taking a shower the last month I lived here and the ceiling tile fell and hit me, thankfully I didn't get hurt. Safe yourself don't rent this place!
****IF YOU ARE THINKING OF MOVING HERE, PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE REVIEW. WRITTEN JULY 10 2019*** I just moved in about two and a half months ago in April. This was my first apartment, & since I had no renters history I decided to roll the dice & move in here despite all of the negative reviews. The landlord, Suzie or however you spell her name, is totally inept yet somehow managed to take advantage of my inexperience. She did not do a walkthrough with me or anything before I signed my lease & minimized all of the issues with the apartment in order to entice me into signing my lease. At this point all I had seen was the model which didn’t look that bad at all, so I thought it would be fine. No. Once I got to the apartment that I had just signed a lease for, I immediately noticed issues. I will number all the issues I’ve experienced here, so please bear with me & read it all the way through. 1. the floors in the living & dining room all VERY NOTICEABLY dipped in towards the middle of the apartment. 2. The walls have three different shades of white/cream paint on them where someone apparently tried to touch up the walls & did a TERRIBLE job of it. There is paint on the floors - brown where they painted over HARDWOOD FLOORS for some reason, and white from where the “touched up” the walls with what seems to have been spray paint and totally botched it. 3. My kitchen cabinets are messed up & have been since I moved in, despite the landlord telling me that she would fix them the very next day after I moved in. That would have been April 25, 2019. ——Just from looks this place is so embarrassing that I would never invite anyone other than family over. & hardly even family. —— 4. Then, as I got back to my apartment after picking my things up from where I was staying on the the 24th of April, the same day I moved in, I saw the first roaches. The roach issue has been an ongoing battle since I moved in. I am not a dirty person & there is nothing that can be done about it seemingly. They still are not gone and it’s been over two months. I even threatened to call the health department & nothing has really been done. 5. My AC has went out twice in the two months I’ve been here because apparently the landscapers they are using keep cutting the electrical cords to my unit. It took three days both times to get it fixed again. So that’s a total of about a week without AC in the two short months I’ve been here. 6. A couple weeks ago, I went to spend the weekend at my mothers house & when I came back my ceiling fan in the dining room was shooting sparks. Since then, the lighting fixtures haven’t worked at all in either my kitchen or my dining room. It also rendered a total of 3/5 of the electrical sockets in my living & dining rooms unusable. I have yet to have my phone calls answered about this by either the landlord or the maintenance technicians. 6. On top of all this, they basically lie about the rent saying that it’s $514. They also charge $50 for water a month, bringing the total up to $564 a month. The electric bill here is also incredibly high, probably due to the terrible condition this building is in. My LG&E bill this past month was $164 & based on other reviews that would only be worse in the winter. —————————————————————————————— If you are looking at this place because you think it will be cheap like I did - don’t. It is the furthest from cheap. You would be better looking at a more expensive apartment with all utilities included or something. I FULLY plan to break my lease when this month is up, since they made me pay three months rent up front to begin with. I also plan to call building inspectors as soon as I’m out. Seriously, do not be like me. Heed this review & all the others. The owner is a literal slumlord & this is the WORST experience I could have hoped for for a first apartment. !!!! LOOK. ELSEWHERE. !!!!!
My significant other and I moved here in December 2019. I dealt with a flea infestation, even though I had no pets. I had a really bad ant problem everywhere in the unit, despite keeping a clean apartment. Management blamed ME for the ant problem. At one point, my neighbors and I experienced a plumbing issue where each other’s fecal matter and urine would come up our bath tub drainspictured It was finally fixed over a month later after enough people complained. I also went two weeks without AC. My last straw came when a mold issue began to appear above the fridge and shower. Water would leak out into my freezer and bathtub every time my neighbor showered or flushed the toilet. YUCK! The attached photos show the progression from a month after notifying maintenance, to two months after. At this point, the presence was effecting the air quality so much, I couldn’t even live in there anymore. I just stayed at my mother’s house. After notifying maintenance and management numerous times and having maintenance walk in only to never come back, I called the health department. They did an evaluation and determined that not only was that an issue, but the windows and the exhaust vent for the water heater as well. Ironically, maintenance was in the parking lot working in the laundry room and saw the health department come into my apartment. I left to go mail Cumberland a certified letter notifying them I would terminate my lease in 14 days if not fixed. Low and behold, I come back to all of the mold SPRAY PAINTED!!! The spray paint particles settled onto my iron skillets, ruining those. To make matters worse, whomever was in my apartment stole an Apple Watch, expensive cutlery set, and possibly more that I can’t think of. I was threatened to move my stuff out or have it reclaimed on the 14th day. I can happily tell you that this IS NOT the place to live. The pictures you can find on apartments.com look NOTHING like the actual units. Save yourself my troubles!!!!! Edit: how could I forget the fire hazard of my stove almost catching my house on fire when I turned it on! When maintenance fixed it, they left wires exposed and poorly repaired!
Worst place I ever lived. I had no other options at the time, but when I could I got out of there as fast as possible. Their infested with mouse no matter how clean u try to keep your apartment. The bath tub faucet was running all the time and when complained to the manager she didn't do anything. It took my brother going over there to get someone to come out to fix it. If I stayed over there any longer I would have video taped everything they didn't do and video taped mouse running around and mouse droppings and took them to court because that's not right and hazardous! I hope someone takes them to court and get them into so much trouble. The manager was very rude, and for those apartments to be carp you would have at least thought the manager would be nice!
Bottom of the barrel.... We had to live with black mold, No A/C or heat and we had a hard time getting them to fix anything. We had to call the health department on them just to get the mold investigated... Now we live up front, and though it's nothing like the last apartment we can't even get our damn toilet fixed!!! Every time you flush the damn thing it over flows! When she showed me the apartment she let me know about the "Soft spots" on the bathroom floor.I should have knew something was up then. The people a few apartments down set their beds out and have complained about bed bugs. As the lady stated in her review the Manager upfront likes to talk to you like an idiot. She insists that my 14 and 12 year old have thrown toys down the toilet.... tell me what 12 and 14 year old plays with toys in 2016!?
Save your money and don't move in here unless you're very very very desperate and you have no other choice. The insulation is super bad, the heat doesn't heat up like it's supposed to. I've heard other tenants complain of bugs and cockroaches. We have ants, the carpet is very dirty and old, the flooors are very creaky, doors don't close all the way. These apartments are just completely outdated in every sense. Definitely not the best experience for a first time apartment renter. Super super disappointed but I guess it's a little better than being homeless. These apartments are INFESTED with ants, cockroaches, bugs, spiders yellow sac, daddy long legs, different venomous kinds seriously don't move to these apartments.
The owner is cheap, and hires unqualified managers to run Cumberland. The Managers then make stupid mistakes, and the owner hides from you. Just sending you more bills that were the fault of the incompetent manager at cumberland. The managers errors are your problem. The owner thinks cheap staff is better, but he's truly mistaken. So he ignores all the complaints, misdoings by his staff, errors by his staff, and concerns from his tenants. All he does is have his billing agency send you more bills, even bills that were caused by his managers incompetence, and aren't your fault. Absolutely horrible environment. Worst place I've ever lived in my life. The most horrifying apartments you could ever imagine.
Very horrible place to live. Although mostly quiet & great access to everything in the area, the buildings are old & NOT up to code, so you end up spending WAY too much on LG&E. To get anything fixed in a timely fashion, we had to actually call Code Enforcement to inspect our apartment. I recommend Cumberland Apartments a last resort to anyone looking.
Been living here a couple months now and had alot of problems with the apartment I'm living in. I had leaks in roof and now my ceiling fell onto the ground and what makes it worse is that there is black mold in the ceiling. I called them 4 days ago and they haven't come and fix it yet. The manager is rude and unprofessional.
This is NOT somewhere u want to stay unless you really have to. The staff was horrible the apartments are old the area is crappy if you need work done be prepared to do it yourself the property manager was very petty she put trash on my door step because a guest left it in the parking lot. My heat went out a few times and took weeks to repair each time and no she didn't not pro rate my rent I think a homeless shelter would have been a better choice
