Curis at Charlotte is an excellent place to work. During my tenure at this facility, I have made lifelong relationships and have seen a team be developed that is extraordinary. The team I work with on a daily basis is very caring and involved with the residents as well as their families. I could not ask for a better place to work. I really enjoy what I do and being a part of the Curis at Charlotte team is truly a blessing. If you are looking for a location to place your loved one for rehabilitation or long term care, I would highly recommend Curis at Charlotte. We definitely show love and compassion for all our residents. We consider all our residents and their families OUR FAMILY!
Came go visit my brother. His care was a lot better than a month ago: before his clothes wasn't wash-we had to wash and drop it off each week, and he wasn't bath on a regular basis. Under the new care person named Mona Lisa, he was bathed, shaved, and she even combed his hair - which is beyond my expectations! While visiting last week, I didn't get a greeting from some staff when I walked by, some did greet and acknowledge my presence. The facility is clean and seems like there was an activity with a lot of residents in the hallway-single line in their wheelchairs. Although I didn't notice a staff person organizing it, it was nice to see that the residents are up and about. Overall, after three months of coming to the facility, I saw a vast improvement.
Staff was friendly and helpful. They answered all of my questions and offered assistance when needed. The residents seemed happy and talked about the fun that they have making crafts. This was a very positive experience for me. I am very impressed by the concern that has been shown by taking part in this survey. This shows that this nursing home wants to provide the best care for their residents and make their stay a pleasant experience for this time in their lives. A pleasant experience is not only important to the residents, but also for family and friends. I was also impressed by the fact that visitors need to check themselves in and out via a computer .Monitoring the traffic in and out of the nursing home is i.important to the safety of the residents. I feel that this brings peace of mind to their families that checks are in place to insure the safety and well being of their love ones . I hope that this facility continues to make an effort to ensure the safety and comfort for their residents. Many times the elderly and sick are treated as though their quality of life is not important because of their age and circumstances. I feel that this time in life is very important and that they should be treated with dignity and respect.
I am a fairly new employee of Curis at Charlotte and I cannot be more grateful and happy to work with such incredible people. The entire team work so hard to ensure a loving and secure environment for the residents. Their professionalism and positive attitudes make this the best care facility I have ever worked for! The residents are treated with kindness and respect and it makes me proud to say I work for Curis at Charlotte!!!
This place is awful! I encourage those considering this place to look beyond the few friendly faces and tidy areas. Firstly, my mother was transported to the hospital from this facility and not a single emergency contact was called. My mother was at the hospital for hours before the hospital decided to look in their database for old emergency contacts. It’s worth noting that she hasn’t been to the chain of hospitals in 5 years. Fortunately, she has been before if she hadn’t no one would know! They when we called Avante to confirm which hospital she went to, they had no idea! Therapy is a joke. It’s “freestyle” everything. Just imagine a bunch of seniors in a gym for free time. There’s no real tailored treatment plan for each resident. I really urge you to look elsewhere if you are looking at a rehab facility. The facility does have the equipment but it seems the therapist lack of technique. Varying techniques are important in rehabilitation but instead therapist just try the same technique the next day. In some cases they get so lazy they don’t even do therapy or in other cases they have residents build with blocks. About 60% of the time, call bells lay on the floor. There was one time my mom’s roommate wanted to use her bell to call for assistance and even her bell was on the floor and I walked in to 2 residents unable to call for assistance. The room telephone has also been unplugged for some reason. With every attempt to address problems, there are excuses and false information provided. ----------------------------------- Post Discharge Update ----------------------------------- Avante failed to notify Power of Attorney and Emergency Contacts of 3 Medical Incidents 1 Resident being transferred to the hospital 2 Resident being confirmed having C-Diff 3 Resident being confirmed having VRE I really urge those who truly love their love ones to look beyond appearance and more at reviews. Appearances are almost always kept up during normal business hours and dates/times where visits are pre-planned. ----------------------------------- Final Post Discharge Update ----------------------------------- After nearly 90 days since discharge, my mother has made significant progress in her health and therapy. After looking back, I feel terrible that she was almost served a death sentence while at Avante. Surprisingly, Avante came recommended but it's clear that you cannot trust reviews from those who have just toured the facility. We have managed to prove since the last update that Avante took my mother off all of her medications except one but they changed it to a cheaper brand. Another professional said this was likely to save cost. Despite receiving therapy here, supposedly 3 times a day, my mother has made far more progress receiving therapy 3 times a week which supports our concern that therapy was inadequate and/or wasn't being performed at this frequency. Therapeutic tests were allegedly orders by therapist per their own words and after a few weeks, they later state that they never ordered them - as if they forgot the lie they told. Lastly, there have been tremendous improvements in nutrition and diet since taking her out of Avante. My mother left Avante at 85 pounds, dehydrated and malnourished. This is a display of their inability to offer personalized care. With all that being said, it is important that people know that Avante is likely billing your loved ones insurance and possibly even them too for services they aren't actually providing. That is insurance fraud. In my honest opinion, it does seem like Avante is carelessly keeping patients ill and withholding information for financial gain. This is not based on just my mothers experience but the experience of roommates she's had and other patients I've observed on my frequent visits. There were also not very many people visiting patients from my observation which only allows all the issues I've highlighted to thrive and remain unchecked.
It is a pleasure working with the team at Curis! So many great changes and improvements have been made since Curis has taken ownership in June of 2018. This is a company that truly cares about their employees and the wellbeing of our residents. I have been working here since January of 2018, and it is incredible to see all of the positive changes that have taken place for our team and residents!
A testimonial and poem from one of our residents: I just wanted you to know that I consider you guys as my family. When people ask me about my family I talk about my grandchildren and you guys. Thank you for making me happy. Challenges Of My Family My biggest challenge every day is facing the obstacles that come my way. I strive so hard to avoid being sad it is an exercise that will drive you mad. Every day I spend alone In my little corner of this nursing home. I always speak to nurses who care those moments are special and keep us aware The people that work here are saints on a mission. The tasks they endure are done with precision. I can’t imagine life without them a home without angels is pure mayhem. They fight our battles every day a fight that never goes away. I wish there was someway for me to explain The things they do keeps me from going insane Greg McPeters
I was a returning patient, my how this place has changed. 2 years ago was quite the experience & I was afraid to return. I was assured I’d see the difference due to management changes & they were right. No facility is perfect but they these folks really care about your well being. They kept me busy. For all your therapeutic needs; physical, nutritional, medical, recreational etc. This is the place to be. God bless you all!
My family member has recently been removed from this facility due to the conditions that it is in. No Cleanliness what so ever. The staff seems to pass blame on why certain task have not been taken care of. The status of my loved one was very upsetting and unsettling. If think you are sending your love one here for there well being . I would look elsewhere, pls.
I have never worked at such a disorganized place in my life!! The staff is very rude, patient care is at an all time low! They are understaffed horribly. I have watched several aides chart on residents and just put anything to get it done. I was told by an lpn I was terminated when I asked to speak to the DON I was told it was the administrator's decision due to a complaint from a family member! There was no write up and I never was asked my side of the situation I didn't have to sign anything I was not even given a valid reason on what happened! This place is not where you want your family members to be cared for if me complaining about residents care and not wanting to do half care work got me terminated then fine this is definitely a warning!!
