A wonderful place to visit, especially if you like history, and particularly if you're interested in the battles between the Indians and the army. This place has a very sacred and reflective ambiance, and one feels this energy all throughout the park site. If you choose to visit, read a short story or two about this battle first. Your experience at the site will be so much more rewarding and insightful. The battlefield is located approximately 65 miles east from Billings, Montana, and about 70 miles north of Sheridan, Wyoming, along interstate 90. To park at the site, the Park Service charged us twenty dollars. They, did not have a water fountain, so we had to buy a bottle of water. They have a nice gift shop.

Nice little private museum and gift shop by the park. Good video giving an overview of the battle and events leading up to it. They have a lot of pictures of Custer and Indian leaders. Old saddles, sabers, rifles, hand guns, tomahawks, peace pipes, and more. Gift shop has a fair amount of things to get including a good selection of books related to the time.

Is worth watching before heading out. The site is really special... the museum is small but they have impressive pieces in there. Highly recommend for all ages!

This was hard for me to rate a 3. I have such respect for Native Americans, but the native items are extremely over priced and in many ways it feels as if what they are doing to the tourists is reminiscent of what happened on that battlefield. Lovely items, don't get me wrong. Crafters know they can in general never recoup the time element spent on handmade items and there's a balance that has to be made in order for an item to be retailabled. And, there are a handful of items that are affordable. But, drive to the next stop down the road and you will find many of the exact same items for half the cost. The museum itself is interesting. There are lots of books on the Custer massacre, but probably all you could find on Amazon, again for way less. They'd make more money in the long run if items were reasonable priced. Just my opinion. If you're happy with just looking, it's worth the stop.

Great museum I learned a ton about the battle of lite bighorn. The staff was very knowledgeable. I discussed some very important information with the staff that helped me understand this battle in much greater detail. In addition they had a movie and book about the battle which I purchased to take home with me so I could continue to study on my own time.
