The room was clean but a bit worn looking with stained carpet and the chair had the black upholstery peeling off. But there were no roaches or bug of any kind. The bed was comfortable and there were enough pillows, shampoo and conditioner, and towels. The fridge was working so well it froze my food on the top shelf like most mini fridges do. I wished it had a microwave in the room. There was one listed as being on the first floor. The front desk and breakfast employees were very friendly. The breakfast was great with eggs and sausage one day and build its and gravy the next. I felt safe in the neighborhood with no homeless or questionable characters. Right next to the public transit lines, but no noise from it. Perfect location for a training I went to. Nearby activities: 15 minutes from the sculpture gardens and 5 min to the University
The location is the main reason I chose this hotel. We were in town for a weekend trip to the MOA. I hate to deal with traffic in a big unknown city especially during holiday season. A Metro rail platform is less than 5 minutes walk from the parking lot. We just rode the Green line and the Blue line to and from the mall. What is more convenient than having your ride outside your lodging? Staff was very helpful. We had to leave our bags at their office when we went to the mall bec. we did not bring our car. They were very accommodating. A very big help. AAA for service. Friendly staff. I will be back next Christmas for sure. Nearby activities: I'm not familiar with activities nearby but this is a university area. So a general definition of what someone finds near a college or university is there, mostly fastfood. What is nearby is a platform to the Metro rail Green line. Less than 5 minutes walk from the parking lot. With that nearby it's just a short hop to the MOA, Target Field,Target Center and Amtrak. Safety: Hotel is located close to the University of Minnesota. It is a university district not a downtown or a ghetto area. So less of the undesirable people around the area. More student population. Food & drinks: Fastfoods are within walking distance. Noteworthy details: If you commute or take a local rail service, this is location is a benefit. A platform is less than a 5 minute walk from the parking lot.
Cory at the front desk was amazing after having to deal with my very obnoxious friend. He was professional, thorough with info needed and polite when booking another room. My family is in the hotel industry and I believe he is a good asset to the hotel. Great staff and amazing rooms for the price. I will be recommending this location.Rooms: 5/5
Perfect safe and secure room near the metro lines, and in the heart of The University of Minnesota. We went to all sporting events you could imagine, and this hotel was so excellent and accessible that when I come back to Minneapolis I will most likely stay here again! I do recommended staying here. Breakfast was very generous !!!Rooms: 5/5
A group of us went to the Michigan vs Minnesota game last weekend and stayed here. We chose this hotel based on location and it was pretty good! The location can't be beat: proximity to the stadium, quick walk to the bars and breweries near campus, a good Asian restaurant in the same parking lot, and the Light Rail is like, a 2-minute walk away. The hotel is basic and the breakfast is just OK - although we were overjoyed with the biscuits and gravy Saturday and Sunday mornings! The rooms are clean. Even with how busy the hotel was on game day, it was quiet. We didn't hear the people in the next room unless they were leaving and the door slammed behind them. We could easily go to sleep at 11pm without any annoyance. The bathrooms have shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The bar soap is a little weird, it doesn't lather well, but it's soap and it works. They give you some decent-quality paper cups for your coffee and in the bathroom, which is appreciated. The shower was actually pretty good with high showerheads, which is nice if you're tall so you don't have to crouch down. Our beds were comfy, if small. The TVs were not great as far as picture quality or sound. The elevators ran quickly enough. The staff was helpful and pleasant: providing directions, giving recommendations, remaking room keys, etc. which couldn't have been easy with all the drunk football fans there. It's not a luxury hotel. It's a Days Inn. A little better than most of the other Days Inns I've stayed at, but if you're looking for a more pampered experience, look elsewhere. This place delivers a good quality product for the price and location. It is overall a good value for the money. Two notes: 1 although they advertise a free, local shuttle, the shuttle was out of commission during our stay. Uber/Lyft is easy and cheap enough to order if you don't want to take the Light Rail; and 2 the rear of the parking lot doubles as a tailgate area on game days. It was not loud, but it was a surprise to wake up Saturday morning and see canopies and trucks of people gathered for the game early in the morning. Safety: Even walking at night as a single female if I had to go out solo, I did not feel at all unsafe. Between the campus police, light rail security, and random Mpls Police around, I didn't see any suspicious activity or feel threatened. Walkability: Very central location to the college stadium, Light Rail, and campus haunts.
