Jeannie & Craig Tidy are the owners and restorers of the 1938 De La Reguera house. The home was vacant for 25 years until 2016 when they purchased it and spent a year doing the restoration. It was built for the De La Reguera family by builder Louis Mirramon. Mirramon was responsible for building many of the homes in the Gentilly Terrace neighborhood. The Gentilly Terrace neighborhood is a Is a neighborhood in New Orleans which has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Begun in 1909 as a getaway community from the main part of the city, Gentilly Terrace was developed with a unique-to-New Orleans flavor of architecture.
With a mix of California bungalow, English Tudor, and Spanish hacienda styles, the ambiance in the Terrace is a refreshing departure from the din of the city. With a diverse mixture of residential, commercial, and schools Gentilly Terrace and Gardens is an attractive place for all who call it home.
The Tidy's continue working on landscaping the grounds as it is an ongoing project.
