I’ve been coming to this spot for years now, and it never fails to deliver that one-of- a kind retro timeless experience. The floors are all unique with their own theme— from 2000s to 90s to hip-hop/ and an EDM rooftop, music and DJs are always on point, and the staff and security are always very friendly and helpful. The venue is clean and hand sanitizer stations are offered; the staff wears masks, and considering we are in hard times with COVID im happy I can still enjoy clubbing, and a night out with friends safely. Overall, I would highly recommend Decades to anyone as its gives you a little bit of everything and more!
We were a little nervous to visit decades after reading the reviews, but we ended up going for a bit to celebrate a friend’s birthday and actually had a great time! The line to enter was long, but moved quickly. They did a thorough check point where they pat you down, check bags and check jacket pockets. You get carded at the door and have to pay a $20 cover if you don’t have a VIP pass. We all got the free VIP pass off their website and, so we didn’t have to pay the cover fee. Once inside, you can visit each floor of the club to get a different music experience. The top floor was the most crowded, and it was very hot, but our group still had a good time dancing. One of the middle floors I think it was the 90’s floor was less crowded, and you could feel the air conditioning, so we stayed there most of the time. Our friends said the bartenders were nice, and we didn’t have any negative experiences with bouncers either. We had a ton of fun at Decades and would love to visit again sometime! If you haven’t been, I’d stop by and give it a try!
I was at Decades for the first time this past Saturday, 8/13/22. We paid our $20 cover and explored each floor beware…$15 rail drinks until we made it to the rooftop. I had considered purchasing a table in advance for my sisters bach party but got mixed reviews from our guests. However, once we made it to the rooftop, we decided to say “screw it” and purchase bottle service and hookah. I just want to say that the servers in VIP on the rooftop deck on 8/13/22 were FANTASTIC! We felt like VIPs and were treated as such. I cannot thank and recommend these ladies enough. We did have someone unfortunately get sick and the team handled it discreetly and with respect. That individual appreciated how quickly and quietly it was addressed. I will absolutely recommend Decades based on my own personal experience. Just please do not bring ANY medication or pills, as they will confiscate it at the door. A friend did have to go back the next day to get her anxiety medication. If we would have known, we would not have brought it with us. Overall great experience and thank you!!
You would never know it by looking at the outside or even scrolling through the photos on Google, but this is actually a fantastic restaurant that is surprisingly very kid friendly! They have a great kids menu, serve breakfast all day, and the staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We never would have found this place if not for a coupon because it was out of the way from everything else we were doing in DC monuments, museums etc but we were so glad to have found it and made the trip!
Ever since its inception back in 2016, this place holds #1 as the best place to enjoy a night-out with friends, family, and/or a significant other, time and time again! This place can definitely satisfy all your musical preferences as it boasts a wide-range of music genre within each of its floors, to which brings in a diverse crowd that is down to party all night long! And if you're looking to celebrate a birthday in the DMV to the fullest Through bottle service and all without the hassle of planning, Decades' have great employees who are caring and professional Remy in particular and can certainly help you live it up for your birthday as they did with mine!
My first time going to decades could have been a much better experience. Rather than paying the $40 per person cover, our group opted for a table at a $400 minimum. Our table girl was incredibly rude and offered us no help in figuring out and understanding our order. We got our bottle and NEVER saw our server again, despite tipping and extra 10% on top of the gratuity already included. Never asked if we were OK, never offered to pour our drinks, nothing. The security by our table was kind though. Bathroom situation was ratchet but I wasn’t surprised.
Allie was a super attentive bartender that made our night amazing! She gave us water when we asked without batting an eye. I’ve definitely have had experiences where bartenders couldn’t care less. Super happy with decades. Clean bathrooms the bathroom cleaner was on spot. December 9th 2022
Do not go- had a bad experience with the staff- me and my friend down the line but also a petit brown girl too weren’t allowed in for whatever reason. I’d love to be told why Brent wouldn’t allow myself and my friend in SEPARATELY. I was in 5inch HEELS so trust me if i was too drunk for the bar I think my ankles would be the first to know. Anyways after being turned away we still got through the night getting into every other bar in dc we went to. To be more specific, I wasn’t not allowed in Decades - I was told to wait on the side for 40 minutes. Makes no sense either I’m “too drunk” for the bar or not. Extremely unprofessional- never seen a bar give a wait time to select people. He was going to let everyone else in our group in and let’s just say there were drunker people than us without the mysterious wait time. So moral of the story don’t waste your time and go to this bar especially when Sir Brent the Bouncer is on a power trip. Decades do a better job of finding bouncers or establishing guidelines for them to follow, seems like a common theme in the other reviews. Also Decades would love to know what your “too drunk” requirement is compared to other bars because like I said it seemed he wouldn’t allow me or my friend down the line in who was a petit female but everyone else was good to go in when everyone was at a similar intoxication level. Where as every bar directly after this incident let us in… Shoutout mad hatter! …we didn’t get kicked out of anywhere, we didn’t have any problems with any bouncer or staff at any of the other bars the rest of the night… seems as though the other bars staff are much better attuned. An explanation or justification for why we were hand picked for this wait time would be lovely.
Horrible bar. Phone got stolen at this club. This same night, several other friends had their phones stolen as well. Read the other reviews, and they are all saying the same thing; their phones, wallets, other items being stolen. Asked bartenders about what I should do and they pointed me to a man who was supposedly in charge. When I approached him he was incredibly rude and told me it was my fault for getting my phone stolen, that I should have been more careful. He said there was nothing he could do about it. There was another man in charge that said he would do everything he could to help, but that there was nothing that could be done. They were contradicting each other, but the baseline was that they did not really care and wouldn’t look at the security camera footage or anything else. They told me I probably just lost my phone, yet it was in a shoulder strap purse the whole night, and when tracking it a few days later it had travelled all the way from DC to New York City.
We visited the club on Saturday, it was all good and fun till I realized that my phone is gone! I checked with my friend and she didn’t have her phone either! So clearly someone pickpocketed us on the stairs or dance floor! We reached out to security but got totally ignored with them! I believe an establishment like that has many cameras around the club, and should be able to identify the thieves, deny entrance in the future and report them to authorities! This is not a safe place for women! I carried my pursed on my shoulder the whole night! I don’t know what else I could do!!
