As a customer of the former Eighteenth Street Lounge, I wasn’t sure how this new spot was going to be like— I had some concerns about it and just wanted to give it a try last Thursday. They have amazing bartenders like Caro. She is SUPER friendly and funny. Her cocktails tastes so good which is why I will definitely be back. The new concept is also nice. They have enough place for everyone to dance. I feel like this would a great spot for large group of friends.
Went dancing on my birthday and enjoyed dance music created by a great house beat mixed with 80s and other popular music. DJ focused on dance-ability and party music instead of fringe beats!! Reminiscent of great 90s gay bars in Atlanta playing the best dance music which made you feel like dancing all night!
Not a place for Black women. The music was not good and if you're looking to connect with others, good luck sis.. only Tommy Pancakes in here looking for Heathers. Don't wear your nice fit.... just wear jeans and a black top.. the Heather dress code. Or better yet, don't go. No jazz floor. Just 2 floors of obscure music.
I was charged $63 for ONE double shot tequila casamigos cranberry. Female bartender didn't catch her name, but I think she was an Asian lady said it was $24 per shot then gratuity 11:30/12ish pm. Not sure if she was scamming she was a grouch, but a fellow patron bought my drink; didn't catch his name either. I used to go to 18th ALL THE TIME pre pandemic. I had even planned on celebrating my birthday there COVID had other plans clearly so coming back was a big deal for me. The atmosphere is still pretty great. Not the same ratio of fun to snoot patrons, but the ones who get the spirit are super ex. Guy who bought my "$63" drink. Overall... Drink before you go lol or else you'll get scammed by rude bartenders!
I really was hoping it would be like the good ole days of 18th st lounge, one of my previous favorite bars pre-covid. The music tonight was really unfortunate. Mediocre 70s music nobody knew mixed with even more mediocre modern music. With all the good songs out there, I really do not understand what would possess someone to play the songs on tonight’s sets. However I’m giving 2 stars rather than 1 because the decor was nice.
Been here several times before. Great to see the transformation into the Bacardi Rum Room. I love the vintage feel of it. Lots of modern hacks but it gives you vibes of a time that has passed.
As I topped the stairs I was transported to a magical space, Victorian parlor meets speak easy, with a few sprinkles of rave. The vibe was chill and but energetic, like meeting friends one has not seen in awhile. I met new people and had my soul filled with good music.
Bringing back, good live music, good drinks and dancing! Throwback to simpler times when going out was just about A GOOD TIME, SOME DRINKS AND SHAKING YA THANG ALLL NIGHT!!! ESL IS BACK AND ITS YOUR FAVORITE OLD NEW SPOT
Thank goodness they moved for the original spot to the new 18th! Great cocktails and even better DJ. Make sure to make your way downstairs.
Love this place. The wood floors vibrate to the music. They have a variety of genres being played live and by DJ simultaneously in different rooms so you can flow from vibe to vibe and feel like you're club crawling without leaving the building. The crowd is late 20s-30s and a bit more sophisticated/professional than other venues in the area, without being pretentious. The drinks aren't cheap, but I feel that the quality of entertainment is worth paying a little extra for. I make it a point to stop in for a little dancing whenever I'm in DC.
