Denise's Delicacies

Celebrated my 40th Bday, and I just had to have a cake from Denise’s for the occasion. Haven’t been there in years, and the cake did not disappoint. Everyone raved about it! It was delicious! Just how I imagined it to still taste. A bit pricey, but it was worth every penny!

Very poor experience, and poor customer service. Ordered my cake on line, two weeks in advance for a 10:30 am pick up. I arrive to the store at noon, cake is not ready. I had to wait 45 minutes for a cake that looks like they threw it together. Cake was for a sweet 16 party.. I could have done a better job with the decorations, and they call themselves professionals. Then to top it off, I had to ask to speak to the manger to even get some type of credit for my inconvenience, and all I got was a lousy $15 refund on a a cake that cost over $75. So very disappointed with the service and the cake.

6/3/22 UPDATE: I really hope they can find some new cashiers. The wait is so long. And God forbid someone in front of you has to place an order, you might as well pull up a chair and get comfortable. They needed to discount the sweet potato pies today because they were all burnt! I did buy some of my favorite glazed donuts today, which are always yummy! UPDATE: everything is still delicious of course. the only issue is they need more cashiers. the wait is too long. everything is delicious & the new restaurant looks great! it's bright & inviting.

Very nice black owned bakery in North Philadelphia. This place has been a legendary staple in the community for a long time and very well respected. At certain times of the week, the line can be long, but the cakes and pastries are outstanding

Last time I was here was about 20yrs ago with mom, I'm happy you guys are still there. Stopped by early for some pound cake, came home and already ate some lol glad I got two of everything. Cakes are amazing. I'll be back again before 20 more yrs pass lol

The pastries are good which is why they get two stars. These folks are TURTLES!! 4 Customers in line, not to mention the customers are getting the most simplest items or either picking up a cake, yet they move like we are on their time with the most stink attitudes. you obviously don’t deserve or want my money this is why I hate supporting SOME black businesses that are located in the hood because they walk around like we owe them something. Waited in line for 30 mins for 3 different workers to service 4 customers not including myself because I left and they just wanted donuts??!!. If you plan on coming here before work, make sure you have 45min-1hr of free time before stepping in this line. The light skinned young lady & brown skin young lady w the glasses are polite to customers but whom ever the brown skin girl with the weave is that runs that register should be laid off, this is not the first time I’ve witness her having attitude with customers & myself. You never know who will enter your business.

I've been going to Denise's bakery for over 20 years and this is The BEST Strawberry Shortcake Ever I would leave out early from home to get a slice before going to school or get a slice afterwards. Even after that horrible fire, this recipe and all the other goodies STILL taste the same...... Nothing has changed, still Delicious

I had a wonderful birthday. Thank you for the beautiful pound female 1/4 sheet cake. I am enjoying my last chunk in a few minutes. Worth EVERY penny and more thanks to your wonderful baking. Everything went perfectly from the online ordering and payment system to the actual pickup of one of the most beautiful cakes I have ever enjoyed. Thank you. Keep up the great work.

Got a chocolate strawberry shortcake for my kids birthday. The cake was good but the presentation was HORRIBLE! I get strawberry shortcakes all the time but this time my cake didn’t look how it was supposed to look. The strawberries were old and small, They weren’t sliced, the balloons on the cake look scribbled on. Just horrible! Idk if there’s new management but they definitely need some help and a new cake decorator because this is unacceptable

I’ve had two specialty cakes done here and they were both phenomenal. Just bring in a picture and the staff here will handle the rest. I appreciate the staff being patient with me as I modified my design to make it perfect! The cake was both beautiful and delicious and was quite a hit at my graduation party. I love their cookies, pies and pastries also. The apple pound cake, sweet potato pie and heath cookies are some of my favorites but everything here is great! Be prepared for a wait whenever you stop by. Hopefully they will be able to hire more staff or streamline the ordering process soon, but it’s definitely worth the wait
