Visited over a weekday lunch hour and was impressed by the Calzones. Simple atmosphere with great food. No wait during lunch hour and the food was brought out fresh to dine in customers

Pizza is greasy, if you're into that. Crust is baked crisp. You need lots of napkins. Chicken wings is smaller then McDonald's nuggets. 6 for 6.99. Not a good choice. Restaurant is clean.

I arrived on a Sunday just after 2:30p. The place was empty but that didn't bother me any. The layout is pretty nice. To the left when you walk in is the bar and pool table area. To the right is the family dining room with the fountain pop machine, condiments and flatware, and beverage cooler. The dining room is clean and the decor is minimal and modern. The menu is dead center and large, as the cover picture shows. I will note that the 1-cut option appears to no longer exist as the smallest option available when I went was 3-cut for $4.50 and $.50/topping. I was torn between this and the calzone so I decided to go ahead and order both. I went with standard pepperoni and melted cheese for the pizza and pepperoni for the calzone. I don't know why but instead of going with the usual marinara or garlic butter for dipping, I chose ranch. With a fountain drink my total came to around $14, which really wasn't all that bad considering the amount of food I was getting, so I won't complain about this being too expensive.
I chose a corner booth and waited about 10 minutes for my food to arrive, which tells me that it was definitely fresh. I like the presentation in the cardboard boxes. It obviously saves expenses on dishes for the staff but it doesn't feel like a cop-out to be cheap. I've read some complaints about it but you know what? It works for me. I will say that, just a suggestion, perhaps they should have napkin dispensers, salt/pepper shakers, and crushed red pepper/Parmesan cheese shakers at the tables. I had to get up to get more napkins at one point and since the place was empty I took a shaker of cheese and red pepper to my table so I didn't have to keep walking back if I wasn't satisfied. Not a knock against the place, just a suggestion that could improve customer experience.
I decided to try the pizza first. Each square cut had 3 slices of pepperoni. I get that this is their signature and it worked, but I would have loved more pepperoni per slice, but it was still balanced well. I am also a big fan of provolone cheese as a pizza cheese topping. One of the pizza chains I miss is Donatos who uses this type of cheese and it lends itself very well to pizza so I definitely appreciate this cheese choice. I still don't know if I will ever try the toppings cold but you never know. The sauce is great. There wasn't too much on it and it has a good sweet, acidic flavor, with just the right amount of spices to give it a bold taste. This isn't your run-of-the-mill canned sauce. This made me instantly regret my choice of dip for my calzone. The crust is fantastic. Crispy bottom with a nice char on the sides where the cheese caramelized and tender, chewy crumb. Didn't taste doughy or yeasty. The pizza on a whole worked. Solid kudos for that. I hear their sausage is great so I am going to try that next time as well.
Next up was the calzone. The crust looks phenomenal, guys. Perfectly formed, and the application of butter was great, giving it a nice, shiny glaze. I wish there was more garlic in the butter (if that is what was used) because it would really elevate this. I definitely appreciated being asked if I wanted Ricotta on my calzone. I am a huge fan of Ricotta but I have friends and family that absolutely hate it and will not get a calzone if it comes with it. The calzone tasted great. The crust really is outstanding here. Crispy again with a tender pull and didn't taste doughy at all. The toppings are very flavorful. My only disappointment was that the ranch dressing I got was Fat Free. I didn't pay attention to the label when I ripped it off but when I tasted it I immediately knew. I tasted artificial and "off". I don't know if that is all they offer or if it was accidentally given to me in place of regular ranch but I didn't expect it and was a little put off by it. Again, I deeply regretted not getting marinara with my calzone and will not make that mistake again.
All in all I enjoyed my time and really liked the food and will definitely be back.
