DICK'S Sporting Goods

Gentleman in the fishing department helped me pick out the perfect fish finder for my kayak and at the right price. Can't wait to test it out. Bought the extended 2 year warranty and if anything goes wrong with it, they'll replace it no questions asked. I'm happy I researched them on the Dicks website.

Selectively gives a military discount. Husband bought a 15$ jump rope one week ago, received a discount. Today we bought a 500$ barbel and pull up rig, we were told they don’t give discounts. The only reason this is 2 stars is because the price was so cheap from the original 1,200$ and the guy on the floor helped us load the car to save us money instead of paying an extra 200$ to get it delivered to our home.

New, clean, friendly but horribly understaffed and with good reason. I was there twice in one day and the total number of customers, in both trips, could be counted on one hand. I went to this store because I couldn't get professional advice on fishing gear at my local bait and tackle shop and I wasn't getting many answers from bait shops near where I fish. Every single question I asked was met with: "I don't know", "no", "I'm not the fishing guy" or "would you prefer it if I lie to you." Those are not the answers anyone expects when they make a special trip to a place where all the answers should be. Furthermore, they tell you, on the phone, that they spool your line. What they don't tell you is they only spool 'bulk line' and all line is monofillament except for one braided strength (80) pound test. They refuse to spool a lesser test even if you pay for it first. They have the audacity to call it "reel service"... Unless you know what you want and know where to find it.... Don't bother, I see now why Amazon is taking over retail. No one wants to work anymore even when there are no customers in the store to serve.

Sporting Goods for the Stars. Great variety but ENORMOUSLY MARKED-UP to the point that it COMPELS me to shop online. I tell myself, "if I don't make the effort to buy those ice skates for my daughter's ice skating activity at school ahead of time, I'll have no choice but to pay 50% more when I buy them at the last minute at DICK'S Sporting Goods." That's all the motivation I need. Which is a shame, as this looks like the kind of store I always dreamed of shopping at when I was a younger dude -- "When I grow up, I will buy nothing but that Nike brand of fitness clothing. No more of this 'Old Navy" junk for me!" But I can't pay $59.99 for a stay-dry sleeveless shirt... baby needs a new pair of shoes, but I just can't bring myself to buy them here (for $100+). Ugh.

“Alex” is on of the managers at the Freehold store. We had an issue with Cleats and he was professional and courteous and attended to our problem like the problem solver and people person he is. It speaks to the management at Dicks Freehold that they chose to put this man up front to represent the location and steer the ship. It’s a 30 min drive and East Brunswick is closer but I will only shop at Dicks Freehold from now on because “Alex” is there. Give this man a raise! He’s a franchise MVP!
