Dillard's

My daughter purchased her prom dress from Dillard's. We were greeted with smiles and good service. I enjoy had dropped some lines into the suggestion box. To my surprise a few weeks later I recieved a hand written letter from the store manager acknowledging my comments.

Selection is good. Finding the right size can be a challenge. Sales staff is ok.

On yesterday January 13, 2018 I went to Dillard’s with my two teenage girls shopping for dresses. At first no one was in the area to help so as usual we gathered everything that we wanted to try on and went to the dressing room which is quite a long process for my girls. I went back and forth at least 5 times to the dressing room passing two sales associates at the register socializing. Not once did they speak or ask if I needed any help. When I did need help I went to a completely different area and asked. The very helpful associate followed me to the dressing room. As I was standing in front of one of the dresssing rooms that my daughter was in, one of the other sales associates came in finally and pretended as if I was still invisible. She looked about 6 inches from me where the clothes we were trying on was hanging and said “who does this” zipped up one of the dresses and snatched the clothes off the wall then stormed out. The helpful associate looked at her crazy but stayed professional by saying “I can take those clothes and put them away for you”. She didn’t ask me if they were mine or if I was done or if I needed any help. It was as if they did want me shopping there at all. I was in the same area for at least an hour. She completely overreacted. The helpful sales associate then asked me if I would like to speak to a manager? At that point I was ready to leave and leave the things I wanted to purchase. Then the helpful associate informed that there was a Jr’s section that may have what I was looking for. I told her I wanted to speak to the manager after I returned. Before I could reach the the Jr’s section the angry associate came to me and apologizeed but it shouldn’t have been a conversation at all had she stayed professional and had she been doing her job. This was my worst experience ever in a department store. I think she’s in the wrong profession. No costumer should ever feel like an inconvenience. It will be a long time before I return to Dillard’s for anything.

It is not worth going there to buy shoes. Most of the chairs had something on them so that you cannot sit down. We found 2 chairs and waited for help. That is the standard procedure in a shoe store. Of course, we were observed and completely ignored. We walked out, and no one there noticed or cared. Heaven forbid if any of them would have to do any work.
