First timer for Uyghur cuisine! Interesting fusion of Central & East Asia flavors so it’s also halal. The restaurant has a beautiful setting and proactive servers — also Metro friendly access red line. Korma Chop with lamb was really our favorite selection of Uyghur fried noodles: great taste and value for money. Arlash Korma stir-fried lamb was so tasty. We also liked the fried eggplant dish although I think it’s pricey considering that it’s vegetable dish without any meats.
Overall, the quality of the food was not impressive. Every dish we ordered was good, but it was like there could be something to be improved with it. The veggies included in the pearled noodle dish didn’t seem to match so well, the lamb kebab seemed to be a little overcooked, and the pumpkin dumplings were definitely just square cuts of butternut squash in a dumpling wrapper. The dessert also didn’t taste super fresh. Service was very slow as well, even though they were not very busy in terms of the restaurant itself being packed. It was good but I wouldn’t come back just because none of the dishes stood out and tasted prettty average.
We had great experience of trying Uyghur cuisine. The waiter was very welcoming and helpful with the dishes selection. The food was delicious. Definitely looking forward to going back on our next trip to Washington, DC.
One of the best restaurants i’ve been to. The food here is amazing you won’t regret coming here. The young lady who served us was extremely nice and recommend us to try the best dishes. The manager here is also very welcoming and friendly. The rib kebab was my favourite dish. 10/10 must try!!
I’ve been wanting to visit this place since ever I planned my trip to DC. All 4 meals we’ve ordered were so tasty and filling. Our dine in and take out food was made in less than 10 minutes and was truly that taste of Uighur traditional cuisine . I also loved the tea with honey. The restaurant is cozy and clean. The staff and the manager were very welcoming. I was allowed to take a peek at the second floor that was closed at that moment, and I loved all the hand made art on the walls. Will come back again. UPD:Added more pics
Charming little restaurant with very delicious food and attentive service. Large portion sizes and unusual dishes you won't have tried elsewhere. The pumpkin steamed buns kawa manta were divine! Parking can be tricky, but it is right next to the Cleveland Park metro stop.Food: 5/5
The food tastes all right and I completely get it when people say they are delicious and special. However, having been to Xinjiang myself, I know it is not quite that authentic. There dishes rely somewhat too much on the sauces and the red bell peppers, which often provides a sweet/sour flavor that covers the original flavor of the ingredients. Even if you only know a bit about Middle Eastern food, you know they don't make these complicated meshed-up dishes. The service was not good. We went to there in late Jan., and I don't know why they didn't turn the heat up. We all felt cold inside and the food went cold pretty quickly. This is bad for kebabs. The waiter/waitress are impassionate. This is less of their attitude but more of their lack of experiences/not being comfortable working in the hospitality industry. They came too early for orders and for checks.
Have you ever tried Uyghur cuisine? If not, you’re in for a treat! Uyghur cuisine is a unique and delicious mix of flavors from Central Asia, the Middle East, and China. From hand-pulled noodles to spiced beef kebabs, Uyghur food is something special. And now, thanks to Dolan, you can experience the flavors of Uyghur cuisine.
Delicious Uyghur cuisine and great service. The Royal Laghman was so good, chewy hand-pulled noodles in a light savory broth--it was definitely comfort food. The kebabs were amazing as well!
10/10 would recommend! This place has been on my to do list for a long time and I'm so glad I finally had time to go, everything was delicious and the staff were wonderful! It's right next to the Cleveland Park metro exit, so very accessible. I ordered my entree extra spicy and it had the perfect level of heat, I will absolutely be coming back to eat again! Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian soups entrees and appetizers Dietary restrictions: Everything is halal! I was impressed by their large selection of non alcoholic beers and wines
