What’s better than Happy Hour? ALL DAY HAPPY HOUR!!! And that’s just what Don Carlos offers every Saturday! My husband and I went there for the delicious Mexican food but stayed for the great drinks at great prices! It’s always really nice to sit down and enjoy a meal with loved ones and friends, and it’s even better when the food and atmosphere is wonderful….you get both at Don Carlos. We went around 6:30 pm on a Saturday and it wasn’t crowded so seating was prompt and so was the outstanding service given by Robert. We had a fantastic evening and will always patronize the particular Don Carlos
We visited Don Carlos on our visit to Houston. We arrived at a good time, before noon, it started to get busy after 12:30. The environment, decorations and service was great. The food was delicious, very tasty, Portions are big. Prices are not bad for the service and quality you are getting. Great restaurant overall. I would recommend to eat at Don Carlos if you are in Houston.
Food was good although the steak I ordered came to the table medium well instead of medium rare as I had requested. Asked the waitress to be sure there was no misunderstanding but she had put the order in for medium rare. Happy hour house margaritas were very watered down. I couldn’t taste or feel the tequila. Friendly staff, good service, no wifi and in my opinion just a bit overpriced.
Only reason for 3 stars was the service! Everything Looked good but my chicken in everything was dry and tasted old! Maybe because of lent but I expected more! Chips and queso were good!
We party of 2 arrived at 4:30 pm on a Monday afternoon. The restaurant was not busy. We were sat immediately and our drink ordered were taken. The service was fast. The food was good and everything tasted fresh. The prices are affordable and the portion sizes are sufficient. I ordered the chicken chimichanga. I didn’t care for the flavor of the beans that came with it. My cousin enjoyed his burrito and Campechana appetizer. They gave us chips and salsa. One of the salsas tasted like it had avocado in it and was pretty good. When you walk in they have a table that gives a visual of some of their entrees. I did have to wait for drink refills on several occasions which is always annoying especially when a place isn’t busy. Our waitress was nice but she didn’t listen. I asked for our check to be split and she brought one check. I placed a to go order for a chimichanga and asked for the queso cheese to be placed in a separate container on the side. When she brought it out, the queso was on top with extra in a separate container on the side. That was annoying. I paid $16 for a chicken Chimichanga. The price was fair for the portion size, amount of meat inside and sides. The restaurant looks very old and needs to be updated. The leather in the seats of the booth we sat in were cracked.
We found Don Carlos when conducting a late night Google search for Mexican restaurants still open at 11:00 PM. We ordered online for pick-up. Upon arrival, I was notified that even though "brisket" is a meat option online, they do not have brisket so I was given ground beef instead. I ordered the Chicken Fajita Tacos that were supposed to be served with chicken fajita, pico de gallo, grilled onions, chili toreado, and cilantro. As you can tell from the picture, that is NOT what I received. The food was dry and bland. Even the salsa wasn't flavorful. I would NOT recommend this restaurant.
Food and margaritas were good and service was outstanding. Not sure how it measures up to other places in the area but its worth a try if your unsure of where to eat.Food: 4/5
Ahhh perfection. $5 frozen house margaritas. Table side guacamole. To go margaritas. To go drinks. Mabel is awesome. Mabel made some awesome table side guacamole, great convo, and drink help. Enjoy!
Don Carlos Mexican Restaurant has pretty good food. The staff was friendly and helpful. Since it was my first time there. I had a lot of questions. The employees were very knowledgeable. The prices are a bit expensive. However, I would recommend trying Don Carlos Mexican Restaurant.
Excellent food and excellent Service. Been there at least 25+ times. Always good and very reasonable prices. Their week day lunch menu is the best value around. I highly recommend Don Carlos on Broadway.Food: 5/5
