Downstream Casino Resort

Terrible customer / guest relations. I called to book a hotel room for two nights for a wedding. I was told the card on file would automatically charge incidentals if I was not there to check in by 8 pm. I had never heard of such a thing and questioned it. The young lady who sounded irritated to even be working(lack of enthusiasm in her voice) said that was the policy. I didn't quite understand why we had to be there right at 8. I explained I was driving in from out of town and may want to use another card. She again sounded robotic and not happy to be bothered. I asked about other hotels in the area and was given one option. I was not thrilled with her lack of customer care. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor regarding her attitude. I ended speaking to a gentleman who was very smug and lacked any idea of what it is to be good at customer service. I finally stated it seemed as though they didn't care about their potential customers, and that there was a lack of appreciation. I explained I understood their policy, but I just didn't understand the attitude she was giving. His response was he didn't think I appreciated his services. Are you kidding me!?! Why would I appreciate his snarky responses and the "bored with her" job agent? Perhaps they feel they can treat people like this because the next closest hotel is in Joplin. I would rather stay in Joplin then give my $$ to this hotel if this is the warm welcome I'm going to experience throughout my stay.

4 out of 5 for downstream. Rooms were nice, casino floor was nice, food was great, and staff was friendly. Overall pleasant experience. The reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the constant pressure to tip employees. If you do a good job, I leave a good tip. If you don't, then you get a bad tip if even one at all. I don't need literal constant notes about how I should tip at the turn of every corner. Some of the notes were even downright pushy and borderline not okay

Beautiful hotel and great food, but what sets this place apart is the staff. Have not encountered any employee here who was not helpful and friendly. I only play the penny slots, and there are many to choose from. Much less smokey than the Kansas City area casinos and was happy to discover the sports bar had a large no smoking area. Great weekend getaway!

I enjoyed my stay here thoroughly. The rooms were very spacious and clean. They have black jack and poker tables and a huge selection of slot machines. The steak house was good, comparable to a Ruth Chris. The buffet was fantastic and had a great variety.

Had a great time here! Great poker room setup with a good size crowd. Roulette table was electronic and had an awesome bonus feature. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Even walked out with a few extra bucks (til I returned the next night). 4 out of 5 stars based on no $5 blackjack table on Friday. Well done Downstream. Well done.
