I wish I had looked at the reviews of this specific location before booking. This was the WORST dry bar experience of my life. My stylist pulled my hair at every angle, was not welcoming, and even managed to make a hair wash painful. As you can see the outcome was horrific. He used a flatiron instead of a curling iron so the ends are weirdly straight, the curls are kinked, and it’s completely frizzy. This is not the cosmo tai that I asked for I felt so intimidated by my hairdresser, so I didn’t provide feedback live. When I went to call into Drybar, I received some call center that couldn’t help me. They just kept saying “someone” would follow up, no solution, no support. I now have to wait 72 hours for assistance Now I have to cancel my Christmas card photo shoot that I have tonight due to the lack of confidence I feel from the fact that Edward scissorhands did my styling.
WARNING, don't do it ladies. Find somewhere else, anywhere else.. Came here for a quick blow dry while traveling from Australia as the hotel hair dryer is too weak to dry anything. I really wish I had read the reviews before I came.. lesson learnt. The whole experience started off strange when another customer asked for a glass of water not a strange request at a hair salon, potentially an NYC thing however the hair salon I went to last week offered me one and was told they don't have any glasses or water. So the customer proceeded to tell them she would just cup her hands and drink from them in the bathroom, to which they replied 'sure'. When the stylist sat me down we agreed to do a blow dry with 'a bit of body' in the ends however I would soon find out that translates to something completely different. Once my hair was washed the stylist used 43 pumps yes I counted of what I can only assume was leave in conditioner and then proceeded dry my hair without brushing it. My hair gets extreamly knotty after it is washed which made for an agonising and strange experience. In my 27 years I have never had a hair stylist not brush my hair before blow drying. Once my hair was dry she proceeded to curl it all the way up and not just the ends and then smother it in hair spray. On top of this they style your hair with your back facing the mirror which I thought was strange, but then I realised it's so you can't see what they are doing until you are leaving and being asked to pay. When I finally saw my hair I was in shock and was trying not to cry so didn't complain. Though another customer said 'those curls are perfect' to which I replied 'really??'. I then managed to grab a hair brush and try to brush it out after taking a photo to send to my partner attached so everyone can see the straw that became my hair. My hair is now bone dry, somehow looks greasier than when I first walked in, feels damaged and I'm left honeslty in shock over this whole experience. The staff were friendly enough but there was a person who I thought was a customer sleeping in one of the chairs, until another staff member woke her up and said 'not at work'. I had also ordered a special treatment which wasn't given. PLEASE stear clear of this place, for the sake of your sanity, wallet and hair.Service: Hairstyling
This was by far the WORST blow dry experience I have ever had. The woman who did my hair was inexperienced and negligent, at best. I am disappointed I didn’t stop the blow dry as it was happening but I had no idea one could cause so much damage in such a short amount of time. The woman who did my hair had no idea what she was doing - she literally ripped rollers out of my hair causing significant damage to the top of my head, poked me with clips that were not intended for the way she was using them, jerked and pulled my hair while drying it, attempted to use a flat iron that was set at 450° on my hair - after already causing significant heat damage - and then was clearly bothered when I was visibly upset by the outcome. Christie stepped in to help but the damage was done. The most disappointing part - the manager, Margot, has been completely unresponsive, dismissive and unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend this experience to anyone.Service: Hairstyling
I am not one to write reviews as I find people only write them when they wish to complain. It was my first time back to New York in 2 years because of the world and I made an appointment for a gf and myself at the flatiron location. I have been to this location over the years. I enjoy the experience of having someone else do my hair when I travel even tho I am capable.. I have been a hair dresser for the last 15years.. information I never share when getting my hair done. I have 22inch balayages tape in extensions and am always hesitant to let just anyone touch my hair . I was seated Latoya… she was lovely we had a great conversation while she washed my hair and as particular as I was with my please use this product section this ext she was so kinda and pleasant and did as I asked. I was blown away with her technique I watched carefully as she tackled my hair with ease. Which may I say most can’t do to my level of approval. It was an extremely hot day as my curls fell softly which was expected but the softness of my hair the shine of my extensions it was by far BEST Blow out I have ever had. And as the days went on it made my life so much easier to have this beautiful blowout as the base to my days. She gets a 5star in my books.Service: Hairstyling
Had appointment at 8 AM. The store was not open and employees could not get in until 815/8:20 AM. Then it seemed pretty rushed. I really didn’t get a full round brush blowout. She basically rough dried it so I did not have any volume and then curled it, which wasn’t really holding. I had to ask her a couple of times to go back and add additional curl… Overall I had to go home and re-curl it myself. Also, a very quick wash… Typically at Dry Bar I get two washes. just not a good experience overall. Did not leave with my hair so I could go do my day.
Probably the worst Drybar I’ve been to. Not clean, ran behind, someone else’s hair left in the rollers they used on me. Was never offered a drink. And to top it all off, my hair did not look good. I go to Drybar to get professionally styled hair and my hair would’ve been smoother had I done it myself.
Honestly I was so happy with my blowdry. Tory did a phenomenal job. I was reading reviews during my Uber drive and I was dreading coming here but the service was so great. I asked for volume and waves and she gave me volume and waves. I will definitely come back :.
Was hesitant after reading the negative reviews but actually had a very positive experience! Speedy maybe the hair wash could’ve been a little longer, comfy and my cosmo tai lasted from 9am until well past midnight to the next day!.
I booked 2 reservations under my name. I paid separately for mine, so I thought. My girlfriend paid her hairdresser tip in cash, and handed her card to the cashier. When I checked my card a few days later, both blowouts with full tip were charged to my card. I called the salon and asked to speak manager, and they said someone would call me back. No manager will call me back even a month later to help rectify. They are crooks. Will never go to a drybar ever anywhere.Service: Blowouts
