How can I put in negative stars! My first and last visit to this fair. It was an absolute nightmare from the minute I parked the car. Stood in line to get on a shuttle bus . Sat on an unairconditioned schoolbus for well over an hour as we inched our way in traffic to get in the fair. Stood in line to pay a very high price to get in the grounds ,which is mostly made up of repetitive food vendors.All on a very steep hill.After catching the last couple songs of the concert. (The reason we came)(missed most of the show because of the horrible bus ride) I stood in line for 1hour 25 minutes to get back on the shuttle bus back to my car. Absolute nightmare! Never again!!!

Always fun at the fair with many different vendors and endless food options. There's also a huge space for rides.

Durham fair is still really good - it is a large fair with good food and a large midway. The fair always falls on the last full weekend in September. While it is still populated with local crafts and booths run by local organizations, the small town feel has eroded over the last 20 years or so. The old wooden barns were replaced with nice clean new metal structures. Other older fair buildings were lost to collapsed roofs from heavy winter snow, and replaced with newer buildings that have less character. Even more metal buildings were erected to house the commercial vendor spaces. The fair has been extended from 3-4 days and is starting to take on the feel of the Big-E.

This fair gets better and better every year. We will stop going to the big E next year which feels like the same thing every time and potentially come to Durham two days. This year they had a full scale roller coaster in the rides area, I couldn't believe it.
