East Portland Dentistry

Over the years I have been treated by several dentists and Dr. Joy is the best. She is very patient at explaining what I need to have done and my options, and I never feel that I am being rushed in and out. When I'm in just for teeth cleaning and check-ups, her team does an excellent job as well. I couldn't be happier with my care at East Portland Dentistry.

First-class experience! From the administrative staff to Dr. Joy, I can't recommend East Portland Dentistry highly enough. I've always felt welcome, the attention and care they provide their patients is second to none!

Absolutely the worst experience with a dentist. Ever. Got a filling there. During the procedure, Dr. Joy severely cracked my tooth. Tried to play it off by saying the loud bang and thud I heard and felt, twice, were normal. Between those moments and leaving her office that day, she said I’d most likely have to see a specialist for a root canal and have that space completely cleared - five times! She said it five times!!! It was so obvious she knew she messed up, yet tried to just sweep it under the rug. Now I’m in severe pain all of a sudden and midnight hunting for and emergency dentistry. Don’t go to her!!! She runs a churn and burn clinic right next to a drug rehab facility. I believe she is an incompetent care provider that should leave the profession immediately.

I needed to find a new Dentist after my Dentist of many years retired. I was in the Dental field for many years and a hygienist I've known for a long time recommended Dr Arend. I had my first appt this month and was really impressed with the office staff as well as Dr Arend herself. It's a well run office that's very caring and helpful. I am now recommending Dr Arend to anyone who is in need of a good Dentist. I'm very happy with my choice.

Going to the dentist can always create anxiety, but since being in the care of Dr. Joy I can rest easy knowing I will be getting the best treatment available. She and her staff create a pleasant atmosphere and the work is thorough. I have been coming to East Portland Dentistry for 3 years now and have had extensive work done. I have been completely satisfied with the experience and the work that has been done. Keep it up!

I absolutely LOVE East Portland Dentistry!! They are so amazingly, wonderful! My whole family goes there and I am always trying to requirt new patients for them. When my youngest daughter was about 3 she had a fear of the dentist. We originally took her to a pediatric dentist thinking that would make her feel better but it didn't. Once we started taking her to East Portland she felt so much better about the dentist. My kids love everyone they works there so much that they insist on coming with me to my appointments even if they don't have one. Everyone there is so kind and caring! They are by far the best dentist around!!!

I would give the highest rating possible to Doctor Joy and her staff. I have been a patient for many years, and have never had a bad experience on my visits. Doctor Joy is highly competent, while being kind and caring at the same time. It's not easy to find someone like that to work on your teeth, but I think you'll be extremely pleased with the qualified service and care you receive. Give it a try!

Dr. Joy Arend has been my dentist for over 18 years. She's performed many procedures including the removal of all my wisdom teeth. As many of you know, that is a very frightening thing for most teenagers. But Dr. Joy and her staff make every visit feel very comfortable and relaxed. Her attention to detail and perfectionism is why I keep going back. I can never see anyone else doing my dental work. I would recommend her to my friends and family any day.

My family has been seeing Dr. Joy for over 5 years. As a former Gentle Dental patient there is no comparison to the office's quality of service and Dr. Joy's 'realistic' approach towards dental health. From the back of the house to the front of this house I have nothing but great experiences all around. As an extremely inquisitive patient they always make sure that I understand what's going on and what's covered by insurance so that I can make a well informed decision. As an inner SE resident and downtown commuter there are plenty of places that are more convenient but I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

I have been a patient of East Portland Dentistry since the summer of 1970. The staff have always treated me with respect and have a very caring attitude. Dr, Arend has always treated me well and given me very good advice when I had a problem. I especially like my dental cleaning appointments.The work is done gently and I'm out of the chair in no time.
