I recently ordered a Cork Bark Jade Bonsai from eastern leaf. This would be my second purchase after having bought the same plant back in December 2021. I had heard of a theft at their facility several months back and wanted to support their business. However my good intention was returned was shameless customer service. When I received the bonsai- it was totally different than what was advertised. The plant I received had completely smooth bark, had no corking and looked like the non-cork bark variation which is $60 dollars cheaper than the cork bark variation. Additionally, the trunk was damaged with a big chunk of the trunk carved out. I knew the plant I received was not the cork bark variation because it was completely different from the plant that I purchased just 4 months back. When I reached out to customer service with pictures, they responded claiming I was sent the correct item and did not address the damage on the trunk. When I followed up on the trunk damage, they told me that this may have occurred during shipping but will heal over time. The ability of customer service to shrug off any responsibility was shocking. It's incredibly disappointing to pay 100 dollars for a tree and receive an incorrect and damaged tree. It is all the more deceptive to be sent a cheaper variety of the plant you ordered. If I had not made the purchase of the same plant 4 months back, I would not have know that what I received was the incorrect plant.
I recently purchased two more bamboo plants pineapple shaped bamboo. Unfortunately, one of the plants was infested with spider mites. When I contacted customer service to inform them of this, they reviewed the photos I sent and gave me recommendations to get rid of the spider mites. The plant was literally dying and I was told to keep it in my house for two more weeks in an attempt to save the plant before they would replace it "per their policy". I moved the plant to another location with the help of my boyfriend because I was completely freaked out and needless to say the bamboo is continuing to die for it was "infested". I would have expected for eastern leaf to have just provided me with another bamboo, seeing as to how I spent over $300.00 on my orders THEY ARE NOT CHEAP. But I guess good customer service means absolutely nothing to Renee or Jason. Businesses especially the small ones really need to realize how important it is to keep the customer satisfied for we are the people that keep the business a float. But who am I?...just a good spending customer is all!!!! Wonder what will happen next after I send in the newest photos of my dead bamboo that I was forced to shelter in order to be reimbursed. Huh!!!!
Picked up a bonsai tree and a few other plants with my family. I felt the prices were reasonable, I’ve been looking to buy my husband a bonsai but was wary of purchasing online, so it was nice to come in and see the trees and other plants. There was a worker there who was very helpful and totally chill. I asked him a lot of questions I’ve had some bad luck with a few plants lately and he was willing to offer insight and advice.
Beware! I purchased the Grand Chinese Elm from Eastern Leaf for my husband's birthday. There were multiple sizes and options available, but I opted for the highest option for this gift hoping to be offering a real treasure. The website showed beautiful trees claiming sizes ranging between 15-19". Sadly, there was nothing grand about the tree that arrived. It was barely to the 15" mark. It had puny branches with few leaves. One main branch was broken. When I reached out to the company they told me it was "within their parameters." It was also "within the parameters" of their other Chinese Elm trees that were much less expensive. So I requested a refund of some of my money, which they refused. Don't assume you'll be getting what you see on the website. You will be disappointed and over charged with poor customer service.
I received my beautiful little Ollie olive tree yesterday after worrying about whether it would survive the colder temperatures. When I unpacked it, I saw that a heat pack was added! Thank you so much for that and the beautiful bonsai tree. I'll definitely recommend Eastern Leaf to friends, and I'll definitely be a return customer.
Plant arrived almost dead and does not look like the pictures at all. Shipping took 7 days which is probably why it is dying now. Pot cracked into many pieces. Also not even wired to the pot. Will not buy from again.
Terrible customer service. I received a Large Rock Juniper as a gift. What arrived was very unstable: the root ball was exposed and the base was very narrow inverse taper - a difficult to correct defect. In addition, the bonsai was poorly managed: large branches folder over on each other and poorly executed cuts. When I explained the issue, they said the tree was healthy and undamaged and that I would have to pay for return shipping. The tree is of very pretty poor quality for $129. It has the overall appearance of something that was thrown together cut, folded and potted at the last second by someone that has no idea what they're doing. Not what anyone would expect in a bonsai. It is pretty clear that they don't really care about quality, aren't properly trained and don't care about their customers. This is a bonsai sweatshop at best. DO NOT BUY from them.
I am not an expert, but I like what I received. The plant was packaged well. I may not have ordered from Easten Leaf, had I checked the reviews on google first. Luckily, they exceeded my expectations.
I bought a Chinese elm, 8 to 10 years old. It arrived with a heat pack and completely covered in packing peanuts. it was sent to Wisconsin. I love the bonsai pot. I did not have an option, but it is gorgeous. It has been cared for and I am very happy with what I have seen. I will place an update as the weeks go on, to see if there is something that happens. However, as of now I could not be happier. Great job guys!! I'll be back for more.
Great place to order all your bonsai materials. The staff always has an answer for any question I've asked. The selection of trees/items is rather large. Dont worry about having things shipped to because these guys know what they are doing. Eastern Leaf has become my go to shop for all my bonsai needs
