Ella’s was so fun! Delicious penne pasta with pesto, sun dried tomatoes, and pine nuts YUM. We also ordered the diablo pizza which was great. It wasn’t too spicy which I appreciated - just the right amount of kick. The pizza dough was amazing- the crust was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The service was also really great - they got us seated quickly despite us not having a reservation, our server gave us great recommendations, and we got our check quickly. The vibe was great - tons of caps fans were there for the game and the bar had TVs with basketball on. Would absolutely recommend Ella’s for a casual but quality dinner!!
This is a nice place overall and I think the pizza was okay, but I also think that the pizza could have been better. To me, the cheese was not very tasteful, and there was not even very much cheese on the pizza. I had the margherita pizza. In my opinion, it was also overpriced. The craft beer selection could have been better. The cappuccino was pretty good. The staff were very friendly, and the decor and atmosphere were very nice. So overall, this was a nice place.
Six out of five! : Everything was perfection - fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned appetizer and salmon salad; dessert almond cake was heavenly. This was our first time here and we can't wait to come back!!
A very child friendly and family oriented restaurant. The pizzas were delicious. Atmosphere was great as the restaurant was nicely busy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely drop in again if we pass that way.
Excellent final lunch on our last day in DC the 1st. Ella's was really quiet but staff were so welcoming & accommodating to us. The American Wheel Pizza was a Chefs Kiss, just perfectly cooked, lovely taste as well .
Fantastic non-chain pizza place. Atmosphere is similar to a bar with table seating. Has outdoor seating. Walking distance from the metro. Great food for kids! Our kids are 7 and 5. They loved the pizza and craft root beer. The smoked German beer was also great!
The food and drinks were great. The service was on top of things. And thankfully it wasn't too crowded. Plus we had a nice view of the gallery building across the street!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: Yes
Super flavorful pizzas, and the Ella Gold Lager was superb! Rachael was our waitress, and she was so helpful and patient with us... Thank you for honoring our substitutions. I had the Fungo: mushrooms, goat cheese and olives, and my daughter had the carmelized onion pizza. My wife had a salad with oranges and strawberries. A definite must-visit again dining experience... Sit outside and soak up D.C!!!
The atmosphere was really chill. We had a party of 5, the waitress was very nice and inviting. I had the diablo pizza and added jalapenos. It was done great in the wood fire oven. I also ordered sriracha bbq wings, wish they were spicier but still good. My only qualm was that the lava cake was not hot enough, it came barely warm. Topping it off with a whiskeywhistle pig sour was a win. It's worth the stop in. Kid-friendliness: Not really kid friendly as there is no kids menu. So be prepared to spend adult prices for children.
My husband and I dined in while on vacation. The staff was very attentive even though we arrived at an odd hour. I got the spaghetti ragu and my husband got a burger and fries, and all of our food tasted great. The prices were a bit higher than anticipated and also a few dollars higher than the menu photographs on Google but I suspect that's the case with most restaurants in DC.
