Story

Emily Griffith Technical College is Colorado’s most unique public technical college. We offer an extensive curriculum including more than 40 career-training certificate programs, GED and ESL classes and much more, establishing our reputation for being one of the region’s most diverse learning environments. We’ve assisted nearly 2 million students since our inception in 1916.

Our school was founded over 90 years ago, and we still use the motto coined by Emily Griffith herself: For all who wish to learn. We welcome all people, regardless of age, race or education level, who want to expand their horizons and chart their own course for success.

Emily Griffith Opportunity School just changed it's name to Emily Griffith Technical College to better reflect the quality of the education provided. The mission and motivation of "Opportunity School" will not change.

Mission

The mission of Emily Griffith Technical College is to provide knowledge, skills, and values that enable students to compete successfully in the workforce and to be self-sufficient citizens and lifelong learners.

Products

We offer student run services in our Cosmetology, Barbering, and Esthetician programs including the following: hairstyling, haircuts, hair coloring, perms, shaves, facials, and waxing. Emily's Deli, which is completely operated by Culinary Arts students, makes and serves soups, pasta, omelets, pastries, and bread, and also offers catering. Emily’s Coffee serves as a job-training program for refugees and immigrants and also serves excellent espresso.
