Big IMAX screen, good sound system. Great prices for tickets. Steep angle between the rows so your view is never obscured. Seats are rather cramped if you're bigger. Not much width to relax your arms unless you're holding hands with your neighbor; armrests don't fold up. Very little legroom.
The review is for Empirical Cafè located at OMSI next to the Empirical Theater. I think I found a Ruby Jewel; Mihkayla is a sweet girl and she is kind.
Amazing theater experience! Super clean, staff is very professional and super helpful. The seats are very narrow but otherwise comfortable. Concessions choices are full of variety! Highly recommend this theater!
I am perplexed at the reviews that mention outstanding audio quality. I saw Top Gun: Maverick at the Empirical Theater and would not consider seeing another feature release there because of the poor audio quality. The theater is great for the documentary style films they show throughout the day to bring the kids to, but I have never been so disappointed in an IMAX theater. The audio quality was that of a cheap discount theater.
I'm grateful to have an Imax theater nearby and hope they upgrade to laser Imax someday.
I cant ever seem to get tickets to festivals and special events. Constant sell outs and no adding of additional viewings on any schedule or at all. I have nearly given up.
Very cool theater, the seating is pretty severely tiered so seeing over the people in front of you is no problem. The seats are all closer to the screen than in a normal cinema though, that paired with the curved screen makes sitting to the very left or right sides a little disorienting.
This is my favorite cinema theater in town. The seats are places on very steep steps so you are super close to the screen and nobody can block your perfect view. This is the best screen to watch masterpieces such as “2001: Space Odyssey”, “the elephant sitting still” , “Ponyo”. Come here during retrospective programs you won’t regret it.
Love the empirical theater at omsi. Large screen, plenty of seats but intimate in compared to the huge normal theaters. The top last couple of rows have slim tabletops running along the length in front of them so that you can put your popcorn and drinks or whatever else you might have in front of you. Otherwise, just chairs throughout the auditorium. We just watched Jurassic Park: Dominion, and it was amazing. Other than my little kids deciding it was a bit too scary and trying to climb on my lap and hide their head from the screen .
Tiered seating offers a lot of great views of the screen. Concessions are poor, seat comfort could be better, sound lacks bass range, and image quality on screen not as good as other modern theaters. Would not recommend for blockbuster viewing or anything over 90 minutes
