Super cute small theater! They have a nice selection of candy, beer, wine and a few tiny ice creams. Unfortunately the patrons seem to have no problem with checking their phones throughout the whole movie and whispering to each-other.
First time coming here. Was looking forward to a Unique and fun experience for the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Dressed up for the 80’s theme night, there were 4 of us. Bought Alcohol, popcorn, and several boxes of candy, went to our seats and my Fiancé goes to the bathroom, after dancing in the isle with a burly guy wearing his 80’s workout jumpsuit, awesome!! Next thing you know, the manager, Troy, follows him to our seats and asks him to leave. Tells us that “someone” claimed that he cornered them and made them feel uncomfortable! Did not ask my fiancé side of the story, just wanted him to leave now. So, we all left. I don’t know about you but the WHOLE ENTIRE CROWD was uncomfortable and rightfully so given the theme and show that we all showed up to watch! Shame on the insecure “someone” that went to the manager in the first place and shame on you Troy for your terrible customer relation skills…… ZERO Stars
A wonderful Landmark independent film theater! The two screens, one downstairs one upstairs, have a minimal design style that is highly approachable. And there are recent updated chairs which are very cozy and comfortable! This place maintains that old school style of theaters, although without drawing a curtain, where is Staff representative walks in front of the crowd and addresses everyone thanks them for their patronage and introduces the film before each screening. It's a subtle touch that really makes a mark on the whole experience. The main downstairs theater is expansive and roomy and comfortable. I'm a tall guy and I had no issues with my knees or leg room in general! Like I said, a very minimalist design style in the interior, but they utilize my personal favorite style of design, indirect colored lighting that really brightens up the entire space just enough for a wonderful ambiance. The upstairs screen use as a tactic, also employed by the Mayan, where they have separated the old balcony into his own small theater space. Here at the Esquire, this space feels like you're in a private screening room. Once again demonstrating elegance in simplicity!
This is my favorite movie theater in Denver, mostly for sentimental reasons. I have seen so many good films here over the years! Besides the films, however, there are many reasons to like the Esquire. The members of the staff are always friendly and helpful. The concessions are diverse and tasty, a bit out of the ordinary. The movie guides and reviews are helpful and interesting. Oh, there is also a fun and free-wheeling midnight movie program. While I haven't gone to that in years, I like that it is available for younger movie-goers with presumably more wakefulness and energy. And here's my favorite thing: there are usually postcards, bookmarks, or other free goodies pertaining to current or upcoming films. The theatre now has fancy new seats, too!
Nicest staff. Bomb popcorn. Best Tommy Wiseau.
Went and saw all quite on the western front, solid WW1 movie. It's an old theater with new seats so it's comfortable but quite noisy and the seats aren't tiered so if your not blessed with height you may struggle to see the screen if someone's in front of you
Quickly became my favorite spot in Denver. Starting to just see every movie they offer just to go , never had anywhere this cool in Maryland
Fantastic small theater on 6th. You absolutely should check it out to see any film, especially a small indie.
I'm still new the Denver and I'm happy I found this place. It offers a good array of alternative/foreign cinema and the facility is both well kept and surprisingly spacious particularly the main theater. I've so far found the employees to be exceptionally friendly here which is always a big bonus! Concessions however, are a bit pricey especially the popcorn, but hey, they kinda are at mainstream theaters as well. Overall, this place is good alternative theater for movie night.
We went to the midnight showing of The Shining on Friday night. This old theatre is awesome. The staff is extremely friendly and the popcorn, cokes and DazBog coffee were exceptional. The seats are some of the most comfortable ones we have seen. The screen is large and there are no bad seats. A great time was had by all. We look forward to going back in the future.
