Esso Coffee is owned and operated by Sharon Koger. She is originally from Corpus Christi, TX. A grand-daughter of Cajun and Missourian grand-parents. She learned to cook diverse and comforting foods at an early age. As soon as she was able to travel she would spend all her energy and money seeing different parts of the United States and spending most of her vacations sight-seeing, drinking coffee and eating local cuisine.
Once married she lived in South Spain for 4 years where she spent most of her free time in the markets and cafes across Spain. Most notably Mercado de La Boqueria in Barcelona, Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid, Mercado de Triana in Sevilla and several different Mercado Central de Abastos in the small towns of Cadiz. She learned to cook traditional Spanish dishes with the freshest, local, seasonal ingredients. The tradition continued as she branched out and saw, walked, drank coffee and ate her way around Mexico, Canada, Czech Republic, England and the U.S. Virgin Islands. She has a passion for creating and this includes food, beverages, crafts and art. She is a skilled worker and passionate teacher. Her passion shows through with the quality of work she put out.
She is a hospitality professional with a Bachelor's degree in Management. She has worked 5 years in high end hotels going through extensive hospitality training and received and Exception Service Award while working as an event planner at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix. She has worked 8 years in locally owned Phoenix based coffee houses and 2 years in a coffee house in El Puerto De Santa Maria, Spain. She has owned and operated an art gallery on Grand Ave in Phoenix for 3 years and owned and solely ran a personal organization business mainly focused on helping the elderly, disabled and home-based business owners maintain organization in their homes. Her exceptional planning and organization skills, LEAN six sigma training, and genuine desire to improve her trade daily has made her a mentor and go-to person in every position she's held.
She began mixing her roast in early 2016 with a goal of creating a blend who's quality shines through in any process of preparation. As a traveler and camper she was familiar with the challenges of having a good cup of coffee, but was convinced a solid, well rounded, full bodied roast with carefully chosen beans from around the world could make a difference. It could make a perfect coffee, no matter how you prepared it.
