We had a wonderful time staying here. It's so cool to stay in a place with historic character. Service was excellent and we slept great. Highly recommended!Rooms: 5/5
My husband and I stayed at the Fairchild House in February and had a wonderful time. After 10+ years of staying in Airbnb's, we decided to pivot back to traditional B&Bs, after agreeing that Airbnbs have become over-priced and lost the personalized charm that they once had when the company first started. Thankfully we found all the charm, hospitality & local touches that we were looking for at the Fairchild House! The building itself is a huge, stunning, historic home in the heart of NOLA's Garden District. After exploring the city for a weekend, we agreed that the Garden District is the best neighbourhood in the city; even better than the French Quarter! You can spend hours strolling through the tree lined streets, admiring the historic, well-preserved homes and having a meal or a drink at some local spots. Our bedroom was modest, but very comfortable with a private bathroom. It was well-priced and exactly what we were looking for. The breakfast was a highlight! The dining room is spacious and well-lit and there are tons of food options to choose from. On the weekend, we were treated to homemade waffles & crepes from Beatrice and Darrell. All the staff at Fairchild House were absolutely wonderful and a pleasure to chat with. I would 100% recommend Fairchild House to anyone looking to visit NOLA and enjoy a local experience in a historic home. I would not recommend it to someone who prefers to stay in sterile hotels and watch TV all day; that's what the Hilton is for! Thank you to Beatrice, Darrell, Ross and the cleaning staff for making our stay at the Fairchild House comfortable and a highlight of our trip to NOLA!
What a lovely place to stay! It took me longer than usual to decide on my accomodation in NOLA. I wanted to be close to the French Quarter as I love to explore cities on foot. There are several hostels and hotels in that area, some of them even for a reasonable price - but they all charged at least an additional $25 for a parking lot/day which I was not willing to pay. So when I found this little B&B and saw that they offer a gated parking lot and are in walking distance to most highlights in town for an acceptable price I took my chances and was not disappointed. I love old buildings with high ceilings, and this B&B is from ca 1841. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was great and there's a nice backyard to hang out. Staff was fantastic and truly, this is one of the few hotels in the US where I wouldn't mind to stay for more then two nights. Trust Google Maps to guide you as there is no fancy sign showing you that you ended up at the right place
I have never stayed at a place with such exceptional service, and such a beautiful building! The beds were amazing, and I slept better than I have in years! So much more great things to say, but still on my trip, so I will update later. Excellent experience and location!Rooms: 5/5
My kind of place. Old school look while also cozy and simple. Had everything I needed AC, bathroom, shower, cozy bed, coffee maker, fridge, tv. I never intend to spend all day in my room and sleep and quick stop ins. The grounds themselves are beautiful with character throughout the entire property. Breakfast daily, private parking, patio area and more all within walking distance of literally everything. I went and visited every district in New Orleans from the hotel by just walking. Really enjoyed my stay here. Staff was very friendly, attentive and kind. Rooms: Beautiful with an early 19th century look Nearby activities: Too many to name but you'll find anything for any particular interest nearby Safety: I personally had no problems but it would be recommended to not walk around late at night in New Orleans. I'm 6'3 and in good shape so I took the chance but still be careful. Walkability: Can access all the Districts, stores, restaurants and shops easily Food & drinks: So many amazing options. Listen to people's recommendations. I ate at some spectacular places with mind-blowingly good food.
We had a wonderful stay here. It's a very characterful charismatic b&b. Not for everyone l suspect, if your looking for a modern impersonal hotel standard, then this hotel isn't for you, but if you want a taste of real southern colonial style and grace, quirky and historical, friendly and peacefull then you can't beat this hotel. Staff are wonderful, rooms are comfortable and cute. You can almost hear the voices of the past and the history of New Orleans shouting from the walls. Thank you. We will be back. Watch out for the Margaritas at Luckys bar. They will leave you with no cloths on !!!
Excellent communication and customer service from check-in staff. Days before our arrival I received a text asking about arrival time. I was unsure since we were driving but I knew it would be 9 or later. We ran into a lot of road delays that pushed us to a midnight check in, well past their 10pm closing time. The staff was incredibly understanding and accommodating. .
Was disappointed with the quality of the room. The maintenance performed was sub par as well as the furnishings. Room was nothing like it looked online. TV was smaller than a computer monitor. No microwave. When I booked a “bed and breakfast”, I expected a comfortable bed and an impressive breakfast; I got neither. The bed was so hard that neither of us got a good nights sleep. And the breakfast during the week is “not hot” meaning cereal, yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs. On the weekend it wasn’t much better. We ate breakfast elsewhere or just skipped it. Nice location and we felt safe the entire time. Nice and quiet. Staff was friendly and attentive. Fenced in parking was nice. Lots of restaurants with in walking distance. Recommend Uber to go east into the city. Lots of questionable characters live under the bridge just east of here. The trolley gets crowded quick; coming back on the trolley you had to get on at the first stop on Canal St.
Stayed there the week of Mardi Gras this year and would highly recommend it. Beautiful room, friendly hosts and a great location
Great location. It felt really safe and it was so close to the St. Charles streetcar. We really loved the room and the property. The room was spacious, with high ceilings, and our own kitchenette. The staff was super helpful and very polite. If we come back to New Orleans this will be our first choice!
